…and now for something completely different! 1690 - 2022

These arrogant fucking politicians, warlords and religious don't give a fuck about us, they only pretend! Go to hell! They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! It is to cry for! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

Hello, all,

I made a request last week, late in the day, for two comps which have been on the blog but are no longer available to download, nobody seems to have replied -- not like anybody has to, of course -- and somebody backchanneled me to say it might be most people might have missed it, and I should request earlier, so I'm trying again at the beginning of the day.

"Overcome", vols 1 & 2 (Trikont) and

"Jump Blues Jamaica Way." (Fantastic Voyage)

Thanks, I hope I'm not being pushy and/or greedy, and I promise not to ask again!

A couple more things I've put together of Far East Asian music.

1. VA - Far East Asian Pop and Rock n Roll Sounds (Kitsch factor is strong on a few of these if you like that kind of thing. I do. Mostly just really cool music.)

The era is mostly the 60s. Maybe a few a bit later. Alot from Japan and Cambodia, mostly because they tended to be the catchiest, but also Singapore and Indonesia.

The music is a good balance of Asian and Western sound. It isn't imitation Western music.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. VA - Beautiful Old Ballads and Slow Songs from Far East Asia - 1930-1980s

Mostly either old, local songs done with a more modern, Western touch or Western style ballads done wth a cool, yet weird Asian twist. Japan, Cambodia, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Burma are represented.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/g9jbeb8ikxud8w8/Old+Asian+Ballads+1.rar/file

Sorry if I don't google translate some of the titles written in another alphabet. It's enough work just getting it together and would probably just be gibberish anyway. I don't want to misrepresent the title.

Yes, I know.

In the beginning, I put forward the question: What does 'Three City' mean? I know f.ex that in the US 'Twin Citys' mean Minneapolis and St.Paul. But 'Three City' in the UK? I never heard of them and thought: Do they mean Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds? Three cities in the UK, which are very close together. But I never heard somebody talking of this urban region using the 'Three City' term. So I came up with the historical idea of the parts of London, the City of London, The City of Westminster and what we now call 'Greater London'.

@Gaius,

There is only one London city. Britain has a curious tradition of only awarding "city status" to towns that have an Anglican cathedral. So, for example, the town where I grew up, Middlesbrough, in the north-east of England, which has a Catholic cathedral, is still a town even though it's bigger than many other places that are called "city" in Britain. Nearby Sunderland, which is smaller, is a "city" because it has an Anglican cathedral.

"The City of Westminster" (a borough) is so-called because it has Westminster Abbey (which is Anglican - they couldn't call it Westminster Cathedral because there already was a building called that - but it was Catholic). Similarly, "The City of London" (a borough, not London city, which is the whole thing) has St. Paul's Cathedral.

If only Henry VIII had been able to keep it in his hose.
