This album is part of an excellent series of surf and garage compilations. I have all the albums, and I can recommend the entire series to anyone who is interested in this kind of music. ...The variety on display here is impressive, ranging from B-3-driven soul-jazz jams to twangy surf guitars, honking sax R&B stompers, and sweeping, orchestrated lounge oddities. Truthfully, it sounds like the Mod soundtrack to an epic James Bond movie tossed into a time warp blender, and while there is almost every kind of instrumental style represented here, it has a surprisingly unified feel and tone when all is said and done (the whole affair was compiled and sequenced by Nick Saloman, otherwise known as the Bevis Frond). Among the highlights are Timebox's delightfully loose "I Wish I Could Jerk Like My Uncle Cyril," the insistent "Saturday Jump" by Midnight Shift, the Mike Cotton Sounds' "Like That," the Roulettes' "Junk," and the nascent funk of "Ridin' on the Gravy Train" by the Thunder Company, but again, even though this box certainly feels varied, there's an overriding scheme to it that makes it all fit together like a giant, glowing neon hymn to the wonderful excesses and eccentricities of hip '60s London. Hello! If you enjoyed Rhino's Nuggets Box 2, then this Dutch set will be a revelation. From Hunter Music/Universal comes an amazing 5 disc set. Hear what the British Invasion sounded like through Dutch muscians and song writers. I've listened to it non-stop since purchasing it. You have to hear Armand, he/they sound like Dylan singing in a foreign language. 98% of the songs in the set are in English. It pops up on here used quite a bit, so spend the bucks, its like discovering a whole new world of rock music you never knew existed. My favorite group on this set is Q'65, a group who were really 5 years a head of their time. I can't recommend this enough!!! Come on Universal USA release this here!!. (Ugly Things)

…Playing with such medway notables as Graham Day, Billy Childish and James Taylor, his reputation was as the reliable sideman for more flamboyant figures. After finally realising that song writing wasn't one of the dark arts, he recruited some of medway's least annoying musicians and formed the Galileo 7 to play some of the songs he had been storing up for a few years. The Galileo 7's sound leans in a more pop-psych direction than some of Allan's previous rougher-hewn combos. if you want a convenient (but probably misleading) label, maybe 'garage-pop' will suffice. If you demand unhelpful and inaccurate reference points before you listen to new music, think late-period Soft Boys, Dukes Of Stratosphear, the Nazz and any number of bands who went a bit psych and wobbly in 67 than got back to making pop songs when the stuff had worn off a bit. This new collection covers such subjects as misanthropic tetchiness, the evils of empty consumerism, anthropomorphised mood disorders and long-dead childhood pets - all in the form of the uplifting 3 minute pop song!

Athens, Georgia based garage-rock phenomenon The Woggles were here long before there was a garage rock revival, forming in 1987. As such, Ragged But Right, their latest offering of 60s rock re-visited, is far superior to any of its younger counterparts. The band has the sound down to an impressive science, bopping and bouncing, all with a dirty coat to it all, giving the songs teeth to bite into you and make you want to get down and shake your ass. This is energetic, all-for-nothing garage rock that is as fun as it is moving, the kind of band that can rock out and throw a great party at the same time. Ragged But Right is quite an apt title for this record. I'll give it an A-. - By: Alex Steininger

...Originally released only on CD by Teensound in Italy, it was long out of print until the vinyl was pressed in 2018. The songs were all remastered for the vinyl. The downloads here are the original CD masters.

The Jack Cades is a mix of a shared passion for inspirational sounds such as 1960s Garage bands, Snotty Punk from the 1970s, Sun-kissed sweaty Rhythm n' Blues, and a lot of inspirational people.

For their first album in several years, Athens-based garage rockers the Woggles chose to record a loose and sloppy live-in-the-studio set produced by Guadalcanal Diary's Jeff Walls. It would be fair to call the Woggles a Southern-fried version of New York's Nuggets-obsessed Fleshtones, except that the Fleshtones haven't done a record as deliriously frazzled and unselfconscious as Fractured in years. The songs are so perfectly simple, like the faux-exotica "Takamatsu Twist" and the whiny garage rock of "Believe Me Little Girl," that a manic cover of Bobby Freeman's "C'Mon and Swim" slots in like an original. The addition of an adjunct member, the Flesh Hammer, and his organ and piano contributions to about half the album -- not to mention some swell theremin on the sci-fi/surf anthem "The Kingdom of Nye" -- really opens up the band's sound considerably, adding new instrumental textures that keep the album fresh and exciting. - Review by Stewart Mason
