My never ending Fleischer Studios story concludes with their 'Superman' cartoons.
A series of seventeen short films released in Technicolor by Paramount Pictures.
By mid 1941 having relocated from New York to Miami the Fleischer's had just finished their first animated feature film, 'Gulliver's Travels', and about to start production on their second, 'Hoppity Goes to Town', were approached by Paramount about producing a series of theatrical cartoons based on the new and extremely popular comic book hero Superman.
Between 1941-1942 the Fleischer Studio produced the first nine Superman shorts.
In May 1942 Paramount executives put a financial squeeze on Max and Dave Fleischer, effectively forcing them to resign from the Fleischer Studios.
Paramount transformed them into the Famous Studios and produced eight more in 1942–1943, they then continued to produce the ever popular 'Popeye the Sailor' cartoons until 1957.
Here is Superman 1941 - 1943

I had intended to post the Famous studio Popeye's (1943 -1957) next, but Wikkid Pissa beat me to it.

Johnny Griffin:
John Arnold Griffin III (April 24, 1928[1] – July 25, 2008)[2] was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. Nicknamed "the Little Giant" for his short stature and forceful playing, Griffin began his career in the mid-1940s and continued until the month of his death. A pioneering figure in hard bop, Griffin recorded prolifically as a bandleader in addition to stints with the pianist Thelonious Monk and the drummer Art Blakey, in partnership with his fellow tenor Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, and as a member of the Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band after he moved to Europe in the 1960s. In 1995, Griffin was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music.”

I used to have a soundtrack that had all the music played in the series PLUS lots of snippets of dialogue. It was hilarious.
Do any of you have the soundtrack?
Thanks,
-Rick
Does anyone have any idea why I can't download from pxieldrain?
Cosigning the greatness of "We Never Learn" (written by Eric from New Bomb Turks!). I posted the CD that came with the book a few years back...check it out.

In Spain, Pixeldrain doesn't work with Firefox. I use Microsoft Edge to download any Pixeldrain.
Thanks for the Johnny Griffin, Tuskin. I don’t have those.

Wow. That’s a pricey book to buy.
Back in them there olden pre-Internet days I used to trade music cassettes via snail mail & a dude named Rich outta Massachusetts turned me onto many of these bands.
We met up on a Cramps fan site so all the bands we liked were of that vein.
(Gibson Bros, The Oblivions, The Mummies, Jack O’ Fire, The Gories, etc.)
Great stuff!
BTW a great write up & VERY cool blog of yours Captain J.mo - my 1st introduction to it & now bookmarked!
Thanx for the Johnny Griffin, fellas.
Man, I'd love to hear that, too. I had no clue that someone had released a soundtrack.
@Anon - have you exceeded your daily download limit?
