The Surf Zombies "In Color" 2021

Some cool corn fueled surf stompers on this album!! The Surf Zombies once again prove that you don't have to live near the ocean to understand the sound of the surf!! Hang Ten!! - Kahuna Cole
An album full of kickass surf tracks. It's not the aggressive or relaxing type, but just right if you want to have a good time listening to some energetic surf. Seems to be the best album of theirs I've listened to so far, and is a favourite surf album of mine. I really dig the other drum beat used on Greed Island, and it was used to great effect alternating with the usual surf beat imo. Just wish the recording stops after the trailing sounds have finished. - tangentgf

"Don't Press Your Luck!" 2008 The In Sounds Of 60's Connecticut

The pounding garage-rock din emanating from the jungles of deepest Connecticut could overwhelm the senses, causing the weary NY commuter to become disoriented!..
...Who knew that the most deranged '66-'68 teenage mayhem imaginable would come from Wallingford's Trod Nossel Studios, whose owner/producer Thomas "Doc" Cavalier (a former dentist) recorded top-flight acts as diverse as the tough 'n' melodic Shags ("Don't Press Your Luck"), the R&B-consumed Wildweeds ("No Good to Cry," featuring a Pre-NRBQ Al Anderson on vocals) and fuzzed-out punks the Bram Rigg Set ("I Can Only Give You Everything"). Sundazed presents the high-impact, garage-rock havoc-- at least two-thirds of it totally unreleased--that finally tears the lid off Connecticut's best-kept rock 'n' roll secret!

Kid Creole & The Coconuts "Off The Coast Of Me" 1980

American latin pop band founded by August Darnell aka Thomas Browder in 1980 in New York City. Fronted by Kid Creole backed by the trio of The Coconuts and also featuring Coati Mundi, they enjoyed most of their success in the eighties...
...Their debut album was critically well-received but not successful commercially. Their second album was a concept album matched with a New York Public Theater stage production; it received positive reviews, with Darnell recognized as a clever lyricist and astute composer, arranger and producer. Their international breakthrough came with their third album, 1982's Tropical Gangsters, which hit #3 in the UK and spun off three Top 10 hits with Stool Pigeon, Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy and I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby ; Dear Addy also made the Top 40. In the US the album was retitled Wise Guy and reached #145, and I'm a Wonderful Thing, Baby flirted with the R&B charts. Dixit Darnell: "In the Savannah Band I’d modelled my style on 1930s/40s jazz singer and showman Cab Calloway, and I created Kid Creole as an extreme version of that, a sort of lounge lizard/bon vivant or what an ex-girlfriend called a “lovable rogue”." - discogs

"MONDO GIRLS" Vol 1 - 20 Floorshaking Soul/R ’n’ Beat Gems From The ‘60s

Being a usual mish mash of styles when it comes to girly ‘60s comps, Mondo Girls still manages to squeeze them all under the “floorshaking” common denominator, gathering 20 tracks from all over the “mondo”, into a lovely pop-artish package...
...However, the ones being most representative of the mentioned “floorshaking” tag, are the stompin’ blue-eyed soul pair of NITA ROSSI’s Something To Give and LITTLE GIGI’s Take The Bitter With The Sweet, as well as the more funky ones such as VALERIA MONGARDINI’s Se sapessi mio caro and SHELLY NUEVA GENERATION’s Vestido azul.
If there ever was something that you’d call female freakbeat, LULU’s Love Loves To Love Love must be an exemplary piece, outfreaking most of her male colleagues, while MARIA DALLAS’ Ambush doesn’t fall too much farther, with her voice being quite reminiscent of Lulu’s as well.
One of BRENDA LEE’s Mickie Most produced British recordings Is It True, is a piece of genuine mid’60s r’n’beat, and there’s even some prime fuzzed-out garage punk, as heard in CARMELA ALTOBELLI’s Psychedelic Movement, while SHARON TANDY maintains her usual cool with Hurry Hurry Choo Choo.
Of the several covers included, ex-drummer-turned-soloist PUSSY CAT’s Francophonic take on You’re No Good and FRANCE GALL’s German version of Music To Watch Girls By sound most worthy of mention.

Things to Come "I Want Out" 1993

His name may not immediately roll off the tongue like Dave Aguilar or Dick Dodd, but Steve Runolfsson may be the primo Stateside example of swiping the Mick Jagger/Keith Relf/Van Morrison ball and running like hell...
...If '60s punk rock was the pouty adenoidal emulation of the British Invasion by suburban American white kids, Runolfsson and the Things held their own with the best.

These Guilty Men "The Quiet One" 2021

These Guilty Men could well be described as a Medway supergroup! With Simon Bunyan on vocals/guitar (Men From Memphis and others), Stuart Turner on guitar (Stuart Turner & the Flat Earth Society and others), Mark Aitken on bass (The High Span, Ye Ascoyne d’Ascoynes and others) and Rob Grigg on drums (The Dentists, Coax and others)...
...Taking influences from the likes of Richmond Fontaine, New Order and Echo and the Bunnymen, amongst many others, These Guilty Men formed in 2012 as a result of Simon wanting to be in a band again, so he learnt a bit of guitar and wrote some songs. Somehow, he managed to convince Mark to join him too. While others fell fowl of being rock’n’roll enough, Rob happened to overhear Simon in a pub saying he needed a drummer (it’s where all the best drummers are found), so he joined in to tighten it all up, with Stuart joining after being piled up with booze, and thus volunteering his services. Yeah, sounds like a story down the pub……….
This is a band of musical appreciators and listeners, making an amalgamation of the music the band individually absorb and listen to that is stronger than the music they could ever do on their own.
The Quiet One is a collection of songs based around memories. Memories of love, loss, regret, anger, and ultimately reconciliation. It’s the tale of two, but could just as easily be the tale of any of us. An album that is set in motion by recollection, full of vivid characters and landscapes, it will take you places and either leave you there or bring you back to those you have known.
Influenced by, and falling somewhere between, the stylings of 80’s new wave and Alt. Country, These Guilty Men a (Mark Aitken, Simon Bunyan, Rob Grigg and Stuart Turner) each has lifetime of experience in making music. Having carefully blended every element of these songs, they can now be presented to new audiences in two lovely continuous grooves, spread across white vinyl.
