We are going on eleven years now, and Ellie and I are still having a blast writing and recording our original instrumental surf music. We play all instruments on our records. Just as the tradition of surf rock continues today, so does the very similar tradition of Rautalanka continue in Finland. What especially impresses me is that despite how thin and glassy a lot of the 60's rautalanka can be, modern groups seem to all be very slick and prettty. Based on the samples I've heard, you can say the same here.

Rough and raw grooves – way more than you might guess from the "twist" reference in the title! The sound here is more R&B than anything else – lots of heavy drums, honking sax, burning organ, and riffing guitar – but there's also some echoes of Latin rhythms, rockabilly raunch, and some 60s soul elements too – all percolating together wonderfully in a way that sounds like somebody blew the dust off a gritty pile of 45s, then filled them up to blast away in a decades-old jukebox in a tavern on the other side of the tracks! This album rocks in a hypnotic zombie voodoo style with fun lyrics and ballsy guitar riffs augmented by in-your-face power vocals. A very unique sound that is just plain cool listening for upbeat scenarios only!!! - ByDavid J.
The first time I witnessed the terrifying spectacle that is Deadbolt was in Las Vegas. They we're obviously tore up from the floor up, and being a drunk degenerate I was impressed with their ability to stand upright after a night of the kind of debauchery our city delivers 24/7. At one point Harley Davidson walked off stage mid-song to buy a drink, and comes back, drunk, and picks up just where he should be. The album, like any album, has hits and misses, but more hits. The title song is worth the album price alone, a shockabilly horror story of pawn shops and seedy bars. - amazon

14 Cuts Of Soulstomp, Twist-Party Lunacy, Garage R&B, & Craziness 1960 to 1968
Rough and raw grooves – way more than you might guess from the "twist" reference in the title! The sound here is more R&B than anything else – lots of heavy drums, honking sax, burning organ, and riffing guitar – but there's also some echoes of Latin rhythms, rockabilly raunch, and some 60s soul elements too – all percolating together wonderfully in a way that sounds like somebody blew the dust off a gritty pile of 45s, then filled them up to blast away in a decades-old jukebox in a tavern on the other side of the tracks! Plenty of rare bits here.

Just as the tradition of surf rock continues today, so does the very similar tradition of Rautalanka continue in Finland. What especially impresses me is that despite how thin and glassy a lot of the 60's rautalanka can be, modern groups seem to all be very slick and prettty. Based on the samples I've heard, you can say the same here.

It was an honor for The Pyronauts to be able to perform with Dusty and he was gracious enough to agree to release their debut performance together! Keep in mind that before this concert, in front of hundreds of screaming fans, the band had about 20 minutes of rehearsal with Dusty Watson. Dave Brubeck & Paul Desmond "The Duets" 1975

Although Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond made many rewarding recordings together, this was their only duo album; it was inspired by several duo performances on board a cruise ship...
...Their magical ESP is evident from start to finish. Brubeck's lyricism throughout these sessions will surprise critics who label him as "bombastic," while Desmond, known for his pure dry-toned alto sax, throws a few curves to his longtime fans. The loping waltz treatment of "Alice in Wonderland" and a delicate interpretation of the Mexican folk song "The Blue Dove" contrast with their abstract approach to "Stardust." The especially adventurous introduction to Brubeck's oriental blues "Koto Song" opens with Desmond providing percussion by tapping on his instrument's keys without blowing; the piece then slowly evolves from random-sounding fragments into its haunting theme. Their return visit to "Balcony Rock," a collaborative effort from the 1950s, is an absolutely buoyant miniature. Brubeck performs his "Summer Song" alone in a mood of celebration, unlike the wistful flavor of his first recording of it with Louis Armstrong. The audio source for "You Go to My Head" is a BBC videotape made during the concert which inspired the making of this album, but the memorable interaction between the two musicians during this performance should be considered one of the high points of their respective careers. This is an essential acquisition for fans of Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond. - Review by Ken Dryden
