Hugh Masekela is a jazz trumpet player from South Africa. But he also plays standards in all music genres. He played on many albums by famous rock groups. He played the trumpet solo on The Byrds’ «So You Want To Be A Rock ‘n’ Roll Star». While in the USA to record this live LP, he also appeared with the Byrds at the Monterey Festival in June 1967.

Forgot to mention that last night we went to see C&W honky-tonker Sunny Sweeney play @ Westside Bowl in Youngstown, Ohio.
We saw Sunny play in Pittsburgh, PA in September 2024 & last night’s show was even more kick-ass. She’s gotta smoking hot band, especially her guitarist, Harley who brings that rough roadhouse vibe to the music. Top notch indeed.
The girl who was supposed to open for Sunny, Kayla Ray, canceled & a guy we never heard of before, Addison Johnson, opened instead & easily won over the crowd. I know that we’re fans of his music now.
Nothing beats listening to live music. If Sunny & Addison are your cup of tea then by all means check them out if you’re able to.
You will not be disappointed.
& a shout out to Nate & crew @ Westside Bowl. We saw Messer Chups play there a few years ago & we’re going back in late August for the Messer Chups/Reverend Horton Heat show which should be a barn-burner for sure.
Westside Bowl is a funky awesome place & is always hosting all kinds of music & events & Nate & staff are cool folks.
Check ‘em out if you’re around their neck of the woods.

So much great classic stuff plus lots of music I heard back in the day and forgot about, and with 9 discs worth plenty of bands I’ve never heard or heard of. I think this will last the whole almost 10 hour trip. Highly recommened!
