Re Backline Records 1950s - 1960s reissues.
For more than 15 years I have been collecting the Backline Records compilation series. Many of the old blogs have shut down, and I have been unable to find them all. Can anyone advise where I might look besides canna?
I would especially like to have Backline 251, 291 and 422.
Thanks,
Cheers,
Mike M

Donna Jean - Donna Jean (1996)
This one's a bit of a mystery to me. Released on the Muscle Shoals label (self-released?) in '96, 70s Grateful Dead singer Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay and her band (ft. husband David MacKay) recorded this very enjoyable soul/bluesrock album, and that's about all I can tell you about it (info on D.sc.gs is concise and inaccurate). Shame, because they're all good tunes with a radio-friendly appeal.

Yes please post the Congolese some day, for I think Congolese music from the 50s up to the 80s is among the most gorgeous music ever made.

Massive thanks again, dear Henk - and also and especially for the amazing infos/pics about your monthly picks in the accompanying separate folder! A lot of work and every time highly appreciated. Best, TC
At the turn of the decade in 1979/80, YMG burst onto the loud, wild, and burgeoning punk/early wave scene —for me and many others— like… yes, like the black monolith in Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Utterly enigmatic, mysterious, boldly quiet and minimalist, unique, yet also aloof, depressingly lost. The Dark Side of the (Punk) Moon. A one-of-a-kind act: that’s what they still are today, almost half a century later. Thanks for the complete retrospective, spkd: a must-have in every collection. Best, TC
