Carolyn Hester – Carolyn Hester
Columbia CL 1796 (USA 1962) (mono)
With Bob Dylan on 3 tracks - these were Bob Dylan’s first recordings for being released on vinyl. The LP was released in 1962 but recorded in September 1961. This is disputed by other sources who mention Harry Belafonte’s “The Midnight Special” as being the first Dylan recording, but Belafonte’s recording session happened in February 1962.

Bobby Boyd Congress - 1971
"The Bobby Boyd Congress was an American soul-funk band from New York that moved to Paris, where they released a 1971 self-titled album on Vadim Music. After Boyd’s return to the US, the musicians made five albums as Ice and two as the Lafayette Afro Rock Band."

Lafayette Afro-Rock Band - Malik - 1975
"Upon their relocation to Paris (with Bobby Boyd), the local music scene influenced the group's work, inspiring the addition of rock and African elements. They recorded their debut album as Ice and then adopted the name Lafayette Afro Rock Band. The band's next two albums, Soul Makossa and Malik, included the songs "Hihache" and "Darkest Light" which would be sampled in numerous culturally significant hip-hop compositions. They broke up in 1978.”

@zigzagwanderer
Hello zigzagwanderer, thanks a lot for the Patti Smith Group. I’m really pleased. If it’s not too much trouble, I’d love to hear another Patti Smith bootleg or two. It would certainly be fascinating to hear how she evolved. Many thanks in advance for your time and effort. Best regards, Mike.
No probs , I'm away for a couple of days but will post more Patti soon .

The Continental Drifters were a great band and led me to discover the wonderful Susan Cowsill. Vermilion was an especially good record.
Thanks for all the Continental Drifters!
