…and now for something completely different! 3123 - 2026

These damned religious fanatics, politicians, warlords, and so on... Instead of sending the children of their peoples to THEIR OWN WARS, these idiots should settle their differences in large arenas with boxing matches or football games! For example, the "peace-making" Evangelical Messiah Agent Orange against the belligerent Putin, or the Pope in his ridiculous disguise against the bearded Ayatollahs with beards down to their navels... More examples welcome! - RYP

PLEASE READ OUR RULES:
We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS OR BOOKS RELEASED IN 2024 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS OR BOOKS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966 and Gaius R.I.P.

The Byrds – The CBS-Blitzinformation Collection

In the 60s and 70s, the German branch of CBS used to pre-release promo singles in a series they called “blitzinformation” (= lightning information), with each single being housed in a specific sleeve. The rear of the sleeves was a generic one.

Some tracks were the original versions; some were edited versions and some others were exclusive single versions.

I have gathered 6 such singles by The Byrds (12 tracks) and compiled them in a zip file.

The zip file contains 6 sub-directories (one for each single with both tracks, front cover, back cover, discs and labels images).

I have also made CD artwork for those who would like to burn the tracks onto a CDR.

1) CBS 1196 (Germany 1971) (from “The Best Of The Byrds”)

1. 1A Jesus Is Just Alright (2:10)
2. 1B Mr. Spaceman (2:09)

2) CBS 4590 (Germany 1969)

3. 2A Wasn't Born To Follow (2:03) (from “The Notorious Byrd Brothers” and the “Easy Rider” movie soundtrack)
4. 2B Ballad Of Easy Rider (2:05) (from “Ballad Of Easy Rider”)

3) CBS 5322 (Germany 1970) (from “Untitled”)

5. 3A Chestnut Mare (2:57)
6. 3B Just A Season (3:56)

4) CBS 7253 (Germany 1971) (from “Byrdmaniax”)

7. 4A I Trust (Everything Is Gonna Work Out Alright) (3:18)
8. 4B This Is My Destiny (3:37)

5) CBS 7444 (Germany 1971) (from “Byrdmaniax”)

9. 5A Glory, Glory (4:02)
10. 5B I Wanna Grow Up To Be A Politician (2:03)

6) CBS 7712 (Germany 1971) (from “Farther Along”)

11. 6A America's Great National Pastime (2:57)
12. 6B Farther Along (2:57)

Artwork Included (homemade CD front, back, CD and individual singles fronts, backs, discs and labels)

From "Mississippi..." on you can hear every timbre of Jerry's and Donna's voices, and every instrument comes through loud and clear. Betty Boards are truly unique recordings (and mixes).

Hello. One day, decades ago, I was listening to a radio program about the history of R&R. The announcer explained that Ricky Nelson got his start in music because he made a bet with the girl he wanted to be his girlfriend: that in the TV series he starred in ("The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet"), he would appear singing a song dedicated to her.
If anyone has the episode where Ricky sings for the first time in the series, I would love to have it. That specific episode, or failing that, any other episode where he acted as a child or teenager, before he became the singer we knew in the 1950s.
Thank you very much in advance, and I hope this material will also be of interest to other bloggers. Have a good Sunday, everyone.

Anonymous,

I think this is the same recording of The Planets you are looking for. This release does not include Barber's Adagio for Strings.

I had a band that opened for Soul Asylum once. Nice guys and they covered…I think it was Aerosmith’s Round And Round…or seasons of Whither…one of the better non-hits. They were loud and they rocked hard.

Then there was the time they played high school Prom at Grand Rapids North Dakota, a town that was not only like 75% flooded…and parts were on fire!

I'm not an EXPERT on Ricky Nelson, but his debut singing (& playing the drums) on the show was in this episode, Ricky The Drummer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5tLK7atb5U

I heard that the girl he wanted for his girlfriend was crazy about Elvis, so Ricky wanted to become a recording artist to compete.

I'd guess that his first song on The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet was his first single, a cover of Fats Domino's I'm Walkin':
