Als ich Anfang 1973 in die (damals noch West-Berliner) Tiergartenstraße zog, war es nur ein lockerer 10-Minuten-Gang zur Yorckstr., dann gleich rechts ab in die Mansteinstr. – hinein ins zu jeder Tageszeit proppenvolle, laute, hyperverrauchte Leydicke mit seinen/ihren unfasslichen und neurologisch überaus wirkkräftigen Fruchtweinen. Drei Jahre lang haben wir das mindestens einmal im Monat zelebriert, an die Rückwege nach Hause habe ich allerdings sehr viel weniger Erinnerungen … Was freut: nicht nur das Weiterbestehen dieser einmaligen Lokalität gegen alle Moden und Besucher:innen-Ströme, sondern auch, dass L. todsicher ein guter Ort für Billy und Rock’n’Roll ist – keep on chooglin‘, Daddy-O! Thanks for the book about The Weavers. I think that RYP let that Troll's comment through to show us how lame that guy is.
Vom Inventar hat sich die letzten Jahrzehnte wohl nicht allzuviel verändert. Man(n) kann dort immer noch gut quarzen und die eigene Fruchtwein/Likörfabrikation läuft auch noch. Der Wirt hat ein Faible für 50's Mucke, leider ist der Knabe nicht in der Lage für die Konzerte zu werben bzw. diese in den sozialen Medien zu promoten. Daher erfahre ich meistens nur durch Zufall von den Gigs. Bezahlung läuft immer noch auf die türkische Art, also die Geldbündel zum Wechseln aus der Hosentasche gezogen. Aber jedesmal ist dort eine Bombenstimmung. Tolle Gäste - geile Mucke - beste Stimmung. Leider auch in Berlin eine absolute Seltenheit geworden.

Very cool to see my old Raleigh NC buddy Ken Moore listed in the credits on keyboards. After high school & college he had a great Raleigh group with Beetle Barbour & some other friends, then moved to Nashville to be a part of Dave Olney's group and later in Earle's backing group The Dukes.
