...Okay so the label is different & these are the sequels to the 5 released on 'Past & Present' but essentially they're the same beasts with better sleeve notes - oh heck, let's just say it 'Psychic Circle' is what 'Past & Present' should have been. As with the previous volume a few tracks have been comped before including `The Hipster' (Impressed Vol 2) & the lounge obligatory `Blue & Groovy' (The Easy Project etc). For anoraks `Tony Brans' (Vol 5) is in fact a typo & should read Tony Evans - the name may have changed but his obsession with `Hot Pants' remains. `Black Boots' by Outer Limits sounds like the template used by David Holmes for Oceans 13. Jugger Tea by Oliver Bone sounds suspiciously like Batman. Jerry Allen's Fuzz Duck is horribly addictive and is either the comp's highlight or lowlight - just don't let me hear this with a hangover! My particular fave, if you're interested (tough if you're not), is the spy cool jazzy groove of 'Night Cry' by Sounds Sensational (led by Lounge Lizard Ken Woodman) which transforms the necessary late-night dash to the off licence into a mission worthy of The Saint.
