…and now for something completely different! 3141 - 2026

These damned religious fanatics, politicians, warlords, and so on... Instead of sending the children of their peoples to THEIR OWN WARS, these idiots should settle their differences in large arenas with boxing matches or football games! For example, the "peace-making" Evangelical Messiah Agent Orange against the belligerent Putin, or the Pope in his ridiculous disguise against the bearded Ayatollahs with beards down to their navels... - RYP

PLEASE READ OUR RULES:
We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS OR BOOKS RELEASED IN 2024 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS OR BOOKS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966 and Gaius R.I.P.

Rick And The Ravens (pre-Doors) – First Demos 1965

El-Astic ER-108

World Pacific Jazz Studios - Los Angeles, September 2, 1965

Jim Morrison, Ray Manczarek, John Densmore, Rick Manczarek, Jim Manczarek, Patricia Sullivan

On September 2nd, 1965, “Rick And The Ravens” walked into World Pacific Jazz Studios in L.A. and laid down six tracks that changed music, not because they were particulary good, but because this was the first rung on the ladder for the band to the way to become a legend.

They used the demo to secure a contract with Columbia, which led to the Vox factory, which led to the Whisky, which led to Elektra, which led to 'immortality' for this great band.

The full line up for the demo was Jim, Ray and John along with the Manczarek brothers and Patricia Sullivan on bass.

Six songs were cut.

When The Manczareks became disillusioned and left the band, John recommended his old pal Robby and the four sides of the famous diamond were complete.

Not a Doors recording in its purest form, as Robby would not join until later that month, after Rick Manczarek and Jim Manczarek would lose interest as they did not like the direction the band was going. The name change occurred after Krieger had joined.

1. End Of The Night (3:00)
2. Go Insane (2:31)
3. Hello I Love You (2:28)
4. Moonlight Drive (2:30)
5. My Eyes Have Seen You (2:02)
6. Summer's Almost Gone (2:15)
7. Hyacinth House (bonus - not 1965) (2:36)

Gene Parsons - Studio Demos 1984

Notes:

a) tracks 1 to 5 are finished studio demos for Gene Parsons’ third studio album (that would never come out). Gene then met Meridian Green (Bob Gibson’s daughter); the tracks were re-recorded, remixed and released on the Parsons-Green BIRDS OF A FEATHER album in 1988.

b) track 3 is a new version of a Gene Parsons-Gib Guilbeau song that was first recorded and released by the 1975 lineup of The Flying Burrito Brothers (FLYING AGAIN).

c) tracks 6 & 7 are unreleased studio recordings. A concert version of track 6 appeared on Gene’s 2001 live album HOPE THEY’LL LET US IN.

d) track 8 was recorded live in 1986 (unknown place).

1. You Don't Miss Your Water (4:17)
2. Swing Down (2:41)
3. Wind And Rain (4:02)
4. California Blues (3:29)
5. Lily's Hotbread (2:28)
6. Dark Moon (5:51)
7. Turquoise (4:18)
8. Willin' (3:16)

Cool! I've heard the wild-eyed "Go Insane" before, but none of the other demos. And I did not know that the Ravens was a Manczarek family affair. Thanks, Searnav!

Hello, dear music lovers, i've just listened to some albums by Patti Smith and I've completely thrown myself into it. Does anyone have any good-sounding bootlegs from the 70s and early 80s by this (in my opinion) brilliant artist and would be so kind as to share them? I would be delighted and very grateful. Thank you very much for your effort and time in advance. Sincerely, Mike

Hi Mike

Here is a 3 day link to Liverpool Scene - Heirloon

https://we.tl/t-5HKVktPXLAzOytBm

Recollections is a compilation album which I can construct by taking the tracks from my digital versions of the original 3 LPs.

Is it actually just the compilation you want?

@Bill
Hi Bill, a big thank you to you too for your time and effort. And thanks for asking. That’s exactly the compilation i’m looking for. I found a album at "https://rock60-70.ru/tag/liverpool-scene/"; perhaps I can put the compilation together myself using those recordings. Thanks again, and have a great evening. Best regards, Mike.
