Just before I post today, I'd just like to add something to my Clockwork Orange post of yesterday. Wendy Carlos (still having to use her 'Walter' alias, because Columbia Records told her no-one would believe a woman could use a Moog Synthesiser), was commissioned by Stanley Kubrick to produce the soundtrack. When she handed in her work he decided to use only part and substitute some 'live' recordings instead. The actual soundtrack can be found in other blogs.
Today -CLEOMA BREAUX, JOE FALCON ET AUTRES
CLEOMA BREAUX (1906-41) was an American guitarist and vocalist who, along with her husband Joe Falcon, recorded one of the first known examples of Cajun music. The recording, "Allons à Lafayette" was released in 1928, and opened the way for other commercial releases of Cajun music. Aside from being a ground-breaking recording artist, Cléoma Breaux also was one of the few women to perform live, despite the social standards of the era.
A compilation I made from various sources (youtube et al) and put on CDR. She sings some in English as well as her usual Cajun French. I’m assuming the information I found about the songs is correct.

You've done well, sir. Whereas "Blues Is Killing Me; Chicago Blues 1951-53" and "Chicago Blues of the 50's" were both released on the Paula imprint, neither feature recordings of Louisanna-area artists on the Paula label. The recordings on the former CD [BIKM] are J.O.B. recordings from the very early 50's . . . and are absolutely KILLER -- an unexpected surprise to be sure. And I'll now begin searching for additional titles by the likes of Baby Face Leroy and Floyd Jones.
The Snakebit title is actually a "private" reissue of the Capricorn box set. BUT included was a detailed booklet with all session info -- something missing from the Capricorn box files I've got. Great!
So that makes your share 3 for 3. Quite a batting average, no? Thanks so much for taking the time to share this wonderful music.

@BigGray - many thanks for the Nesmith-Red Rhodes post. I grew up across the street from Red. He was a great guy and an awesome steel guitar player. Plus anyone who ever frequented his Red's Royal Amp shop knows he knew his stuff!
