"Frolic Diner" Vol 4

Great idea for a compilation series - sleazy, cheesy, food-based tunes from the golden age of novelty rockin' - the 1950s and 1960s.
Someone had a good record collection to bring all of these fine tunes together in one place. Some of them stretch the theme a little bit (Beavershot?!) but basically this is a glorious series of glutinous goodies with virtually any foodstuff you care to name given righteous attention across several different volumes on vinyl and CD (the vinyl part VI and CD Part 4 are identical - same tracklisting and sleeve art - but numbered differently for no doubt very good reasons, not just ineptitude I'm sure).
Lots of calorie-packed crazy ditties rejoicing in the delights of Garlic Bread, Chop Suey, Mashed Potatoes, Mustard, Fried Eggs, Dog Food (!) and so on... plus a bunch of tracks in the booze dept too like Apple Cider, Mashin' Grapes, Screwdriver, Fire Water etc
Actually - as the series wears on the theme slips a bit here and there with the food/drink connection a bit hard to spot - but it really doesn't matter as all of this stuff is just damn good fun. Great for sophisticated dinner parties, picnics, al fresco feasting, bar-b-qs, banquets, hog roasts, burger runs, home delivery pizza nights in, curry house rockin' ... even opening a humble bag of crisps would benefit from a few tracks from Frolic Diner playing in the background.
