Here is the latest volume in my Keep On Chooglin' series. Special thanks to Aaron Vincent for doing a bunch of great mixtapes.
Inspired by such great compilation like Country Got Soul, Delta Swamp Rock and Country Funk!
Comin’ right up, a steaming gumbo of down home, honey drippin’ Voodoo-Soul and rough-fried funky Blues with a large side order of countrified brain salad and gritty Southern Rock. These compilations encompass the elation of gospel with the sexual thrust of the blues, country hoedown harmony with inner city grit. It is alternately playful and melancholic, slow jammin’ and booty shakin’. It is both studio slick and barroom raw. And while these all may seem unlikely combinations at first glance, upon close listen, it all makes sweet sense.
Follow the Love Rustler train through the landscape of blues and country with stops in Jackson, Mississippi. Memphis, Tennessee. New Orleans, Louisiana. Big Rock, Arkansas. Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Old Funk, Georgia. The legendary south of country preachers, forgotten jailhouses, rowdy juke joints and jaded dreams of salvation.
The tunes are from the glorious era between 1970 and 1975 with some years plus and few minus.
The Love Rustler recommends: “Pour yourself a drink and keep on chooglin’!”

THURSDAY NIGHT VIDEO
Country Music is a documentary miniseries created and directed by Ken Burns and written by Dayton Duncan that premiered on PBS on September 15, 2019. The eight-part series chronicles the history and prominence of country music in American culture.
Burns announced the miniseries in January 2014, with a projected airdate in 2018. Burns cited his ongoing work on other documentary projects as having affected progress on the series. Writer Dayton Duncan explained that the goal of the series was to demonstrate that country music "isn't and never was just one type of music. It was always this amalgam of American music and it sprang from a lot of very different roots and then, as it grew, it sprouted many different branches, but they're all connected." Burns filmed a total of 175 hours of interviews with 101 artists and other personalities for the series; some were recorded as early as 2012, and some of the interviewees (such as Little Jimmy Dickens, Roy Clark, Ralph Stanley, and Merle Haggard) died over the course of production.
The TV series presented country music from its earliest stars, such as the Carter Family, and Jimmie Rodgers, followed by influential singers of the likes of Hank Williams, through to notable acts of the second half of the 20th century such as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton, finishing in the 1990s. A five-CD soundtrack album of selected highlights of songs featured in the show, Country Music: A Film By Ken Burns, was released. The five-CD box-set was released on August 30, 2019 before the show aired, followed by two-CD, two-LP and digital versions released on September 13. It reached No. 1 on Billboard's Soundtrack Album Sales chart. It has sold 39,100 copies in the United States as of March 2020.
In support of the release of the miniseries, Bank of America produced a video of the song "Wagon Wheel", featuring a collection of musicians from across the United States, with the tag line "Nothing connects the country like country." - Wikipedia
Ep.1-The Rub (Beginnings-1933) "Hillbilly music" reaches new audiences through phonographs and radio, and launches the careers of country's first big stars, the Carter Family and Jimmie Rogers.

Kitsch Kollection 3 - mostly 50s/60s
*****I don't know why someone posted the lyrics to Guitarzan yesterday. Maybe because of the thing with Jane. But, I had already made this mix with Guitarzan on it...weird...here's your chance to hear it if you haven't.
Age Of Aquarius from Hair done by an African band, some Wienie Wienie Swiss yodeling, Brigitte Bardot being French, some extraordinary song poems from the hall of fame of cheese and many more dumb, yet wonderful songs that make me quite happy. Concludes with a special appearance by a well-known purveyor of croon.

Sunshine and Psych Pop Tunes - Some favorites - Again, trying to keep it mostly to songs that aren't on the major compilations.
These songs actually do make me feel like I'm very high.

First 3 of 10 home-made compilations on Canterbury Style jazzy prog from beyond the UK. As you might expect a lot of the stuff comes from the ‘70’s but more recent material can be found on later volumes. The ‘80’s and first half of the ‘90’s wasn’t a happy time for this kind of music (punk and its aftermath; lack of record company support; blah blah); but from the mid-‘90’s, several new bands emerged, either modelling themselves on the older groups (eg. Hatfield & The North) or using the style as a springboard for their own ideas. Since then there’s been a steady trickle of releases. I hope you enjoy the music.
