We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful.
All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy.

Kim Simmonds (guitar, vocals)
Pete Scott (vocals)
Paul Raymond (keyboards)

Pete “Scott” Ainsworth was Savoy Brown’s lead vocalist “between” Dave Peverett and Dave Walker (December 1970-April 1971). No studio tracks with him exist, but here we have, among others, an early live version of “Street Corner Talking” which would later be re-recorded in the studio with Dave Walker on vocals and be the opening track of their eponymous LP in 1971.
Earlier, Pete Ainsworth was the lead singer of Haydock’s Rockhouse, the band formed by Eric Haydock, former bass player of The Hollies, and later he was also the lead singer of Beggar’s Opera.
Paul Raymond’s keyboards are heavily featured.

@sillybro
I guess I had to respond because, not to be overly semantic, "standards" and "show tunes" wouldn't necessarily be a correct genre for Fred Astaire and the rest of the stuff I put on that mix. I mean, it depends on the songs or when he recorded it somewhat, but this is what I mean.
1. Standards really means the tunes a musician learns to always have at hand if you are jamming jazz or blues or whatever that everybody knows. The American songbook stuff is also a kind of made up thing to sell the old classic pre-rock n roll songwriters. There are some songs everybody knows, but the lesser known or obscure songs aren't standards.
2. Show Tunes would be songs from musicals and most of the songs aren't from musicals.
Basically, to me the music before the 1940s/late 30s is old-timey because around that time the sounds started to change. It became more like modern jazz and big-band and the technology made the recordings more clear, so you don't get that incredibly cool old scratchy and tinny sound that means "old-timey" to me.
It's all old-timey in the sense that the modern era started with World War 2 and afterwards.
The cool old folk recording era ended. That last connection to a time before recording technology died out. Like you said. The depression came around in the 30s and no one had money for champagne and blow anymore. So, that whole jazz age party sound ended.
Yeah, the country folk and whatnot is called old-timey. I know people refer to it that way. Call it what you want. It's all good. I think for us city folk maybe the pop of a hundred years ago is also our old-timey. No one in the middle of an industrial or suburban city was listening to much Carter Family, jug bands or country blues pickers.
And...yes, Ugly Bastard, Lady Gaga will be also known in the future as "shit" or "shit-timey".
Hi TZ'ers! Sharing another 3 albums found on a discovered spool of storage DVDs filled w/all kinds of stuff. Back before I sprang for a portable hard drive lol

@ Caradist -
Thanks for the Locomotive disc, ever since finding that John Ussery album I've been curious.
@ Daddy Cool -
There is a list of links to the rest of the discs in a .txt file included in the download for disc 1 (I've put it at the bottom of this share). They are .rar files, not .zip files - you will need to download all parts and make sure they are downloaded to the same folder. Double click on the file labled as "part1" and they will all unzip.

Can anyone share Talk That Talk! by the Du Droppers (2-CD)?
https://www.discogs.com/release/11540279-The-Du-Droppers-Talk-That-Talk
Thanks in advance.
@Rock 'n' Roll Steve —
I must thank you for the massive Bakersfield set. I flattered myself that I knew quite a bit about the Central Valley country scene; after all, I have a Farmer Boys CD! I saw Buck live once! ;)
I am suitably chastened. I realize now that that was like claiming to be a research chemist because I know how to make pesto. Many thanks. — Pierce

COMFORT AND JOY
Bill Forsyth is one of those quiet, under-the-radar filmmakers who somehow managed to carve out a career making quirky, underplayed, heartfelt comedies that don’t really stand out in any obvious way, yet somehow manage to assert themselves as unique pieces of art all the same.
Comfort and Joy is his follow-up to critical fave Local Hero; though nowhere near as focused (Local Hero had a universal, political subtext that gave the film focus) it definitely ventures further out into left field with a storyline that twists and turns in confusing, but amusing ways. Forsyth doesn’t dwell too much on motives or the psychology of his characters- instead, he focuses on the quirks every human being has, playing them for warm laughs. In a Forsyth film, even the bad guys aren’t so bad.
Somehow, he starts with a break-up movie and ends up with mobster lampoon- one involving ice cream trucks. All of this revolves around Allan “Dickey” Bird, a morning disc jockey and local Glasgow celeb who, despite his celebrated status as protagonist, isn’t all that likable or interesting as a person. He’s not not likable or interesting, however- a classic Forsyth trait. He’s just enough of an enigma to keep us interested, and the film manages to make his comedic mishaps our own.
Forsyth doesn’t seem to need much out of his films- they feel light flights of fancy, existing mostly to give us a nice evening out in the theater and a gentle reassurance that, though homo sapiens are a wacky species, they’re interesting enough to deserve telling quirky stories of. What makes Forsyth’s work worthwhile is that it’s the flip-side to the dreck that Hallmark and Lifetime Movies dig up- here’s a genuine point of view made by a guy who genuinely loves people. Comfort and Joy is anything but formulaic, and it’s that refreshing embrace of humanity that makes it worthwhile.

Jay Miller Sessions Vol.46 Lo subiras?
From what I can gather, they never released a vol.46.. unless somebody can prove me wrong.
To all
The Pond album posted above by Gaius has FAR superior sound to the one I posted a few months back. It's gone from fuzzy black & white to full Technicolor.

Sad news that Kelly joe Phelps has just died. He was featured here a little while ago and was a remarkable guitarist. Here is my favourite recording by him which is the closest he got on record to reproducing his spellbinding live performances.
