…and now for something completely different! 1706 - 2022

These arrogant fucking politicians, warlords and religious don't give a fuck about us, they only pretend! Go to hell! They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! It is to cry for! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

Time for another musical

Ain't Misbehavin' [1978]

Ain't Misbehavin' is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby Jr., and music by various composers and lyricists as arranged and orchestrated by Luther Henderson. It is named after the song by Fats Waller (with Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf), "Ain't Misbehavin'".

The musical is a tribute to the music of Fats Waller. It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs such as the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing. Five performers present an evening of rowdy, raunchy, and humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era and reflect Waller's view of life as a journey meant for pleasure and play.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ain%27t_Misbehavin%27_(musical)

-------------------------------

I was watching the pre-New Year Fireworks show on television some 40 years ago, when they played the finale from this show. I was hooked. Waller, at that time, was someone that I had only listened to a little so I was familiar with one or two songs. I went and bought the LP and played it to death. I now have it on CD.

If you have any interest in Broadway, 30s jazz, Fats Waller or even music in general, this is a gem.

Here's a mixtape I Made with some favs from the mighty Lowell George session work 1970-1980. On almost every track he plays his sigifiquant slide guitar (some of the songs he also produced even wrote). On a coule of track the whole (or other memember from Little Feat Join). As many of at TZ I love him ad Little Feat, but I (overall) think I't thanks very little about his session work for other artists. So I made my own tape, hope some you other guys at the forum might enjoy it. Have a great saturday! Cheers!

some very nice music from you.
some really messed up terminology arguments from you.
referring to someone /something by your own personal nickname does absolutely nothing to identify your subject. old timey is a specific genre. calling fred astaire old timey because he sang long ago is ridiculous.
however, all is forgiven because of your new genre coinage of the term shit timey.

Cool. At least, I did one thing right. I'll continue to call that music old-timey in private, but be very, very careful about using it in public. Lest some old farts from West Virginia try to beat me up.

Did a double check, though, and the genre referred to is "old-Time" music, so technically I win as there is no y and...also, I don't give a flying fuck about any of it.

So, I double win.

I don't like it when ignorant people misuse genre names, either, but I didn't think I was taking too much of a liberty here. Live and learn, I suppose.

"Shit-timey" mix coming up in the future...keep a look out...
