JAMES INTVELD - Somewhere Down The Road (2000) @320

James Intveld's latest offering, "Somewhere Down The Road" is a well-recorded collection of songs sure to make any rockabilly or county music fan overjoyed.
I got my first taste of James' music watching the Johnny Depp movie, "Cry Baby," (James sang the hard rocking stuff).
James rocks, pure and simple. From the gospel flavored "All The Way From Memphis," to the swinging "Stop The World," There's enough energy to power a small city. Simple and clean, that the best way to describe these songs. As good as if you're sitting in a dark nightclub watching him play.
The ballads, "Living Without You," and "Love Calls" are as good as anything on the radio today, or at any time. And it's a mystery to me why James hasn't broken through and become the mega star that he should be, but I'm sure that's ok to the people who follow him, you know, I'm sure they feel he still belongs to them.
If you're a fan of the "Bakersfield Sound" and are looking for a true to the heart singer/songwriter with a country kick, then check out this fine CD. You won't be disappointed. (Record Runner)

Somewhere Down The Road, Southern Californian James Intveld's second release, continues in the path of his debut. His silky-smooth vocals and songwriting talents are applied to tunes that range in style from country to blues to rockabilly, with a general tone that recalls the early heydays of the likes of Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison. Sparkling musicianship and Intveld's distinctive personality assures the results never sound dated, however, resulting in a disc that is remarkably contemporary and exceptionally fresh.
While his first album was truly a self-produced effort -- he played all the instruments and sang all the vocal tracks -- Somewhere Down The Road was assembled with the help of guitarist Mike Turner. Together they pay tribute to a wide variety of influences, from Waylon Jennings (with a cover of "Stop The World" that's high on twang content) to a swinging, bluesy turn through Joe Liggins' "One Sweet Letter".
Elsewhere Intveld's songwriting is sturdy and tuneful. The title track is a trucker's delight, "All The Way From Memphis" is as soulful as country-rock gets, and the tear-jerker ballad "Living Without You" features a piano-and-strings arrangement that summons the ghost of Owen Bradley with unflinching honesty. Somewhere Down The Road is a superb demonstration of Intveld's dynamic talents. (No Depression)

LEE “SHOT” WILLIAMS - Chicago Blues & Deep Soul Legend @320

Fine & varied collection of blues and soul from this fine performer recorded in the 60s and 70s starting with his wonderful first single from 1962 "I'm Trying/ Hello, Baby" where he is accompanied by Little Mac, Freddy Robinson, Detroit Jr. and others. The rest of tracks were recorded over the next 15 years for a dozen different labels and find Lee with different bands and with different arrangers but always sounding good. (Roots & Rhythm)

Some of these Chess records have been on other comps posted here but there's nothing like Chess and Checker rhythm & blues. There's a certain consistent quality that other labels don't often have.
Thanks, Gyro.

THE BLUESKINS - "Word Of Mouth" (2004)320
http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/tc9bgstv/file.html

Word of Mouth is the debut album from Wakefield blues-rock four-piece The Blueskins who have been described as "the sound of a teenage Led Zeppelin ripping through 'Rock 'n' Roll' in their parents' garage". A heavy, ultra-raw blast of blues-rock infused with the spirit of garage punk, this throwback to the 70s was produced by Richard Formby (Spacemen 3) and features the singles 'Change My Mind' and 'The Stupid Ones'

Hope you like it!
Greetings.
