Sálin Hans Jóns Míns "Logandi Ljós" 2001

...Along with the creation of the new band, special band costumes were also sewn on the band in the spirit of soul musicians. Then the band was named Sálin hans Jóns míns, to some extent in honor of Jón who had the idea for the band, in addition to the fact that "sálin" referred to the word soul - Sálin hans Jóns míns is, of course, primarily the name of a folk tale written by poet Davíð Stefánsson Fagraskógi wrote a poem of the same name based on it (as well as the play Golden Gate)...
...The year 1988 was good for Sálina hans Jón mín and in the children's magazine Æskunnar the group was voted the most popular band, had the most popular song (Þig bara þig), had the third most popular album and Stefán was elected both the most popular singer and the most popular pop star - Stefán actually had an amazing time there year, had the most popular Christmas song of all time in Iceland the previous Christmas together with Sniglabandin (Jólahjöl), sang Iceland's contribution to Eurovision (Sókrates) and had a big hit with Sálin. Jón mín's soul continued to play at dances in the urban area until the spring, but then the country balls took over more. The band had then signed a three-album publishing contract with Stein, and in the summer a compilation album was released by the label under the name Bandalög, where Sálin had two songs that had been recorded in Grjótnámin in the spring. These were the songs 100,000 volts and Can it be? which were a hit as expected, as it can be said that during the summer the band finally established itself as the most popular band in the country. Those guys were the main band at the Þjóðhátít in Eyjum during the shopkeeper's weekend together with the Bítlavinafélagin, but also played a lot at country balls all over the country, e.g. in Logaland, Ýdöl, Valakskjalfi, Sjallanum, Víkurröst and Klifi to name but a few examples, but the battle was intense in that market during this great country ball summer, where one big band after another competed for the biggest pieces with popular songs - here we can mention the Bítlavinafélagið with the Danish song, Since The sun shone with Dísa and Leyndarmál, Stúðmenn with Betri tij and Leysum wind, but there were also Greifarn, Stjörnin, Nýdänsk, Skriðjöklar, Todmobile and other bands on the road during the summer.Although Sálina had a fairly stable lineup with Stefán, Guðmund and Friðrik, there were a few personnel changes to leave their mark on the band, in the summer (1989) Ástvaldur Traustason took over the keyboard from Birgi, but he did not work with the band except until autumn when he left for the USA to study, but his place was taken by Jens Hansson who played both keyboard and saxophone, he was to work with the band ever since and make a big impression on its sound...to be continued... - from https://glatkistan.com/2022/04/06/salin-hans-jons-mins/ by Helgi J
