In 1981, The Barracudas burst into London's synth-obsessed pop scene with a simple, direct, punk-influenced yet rootsy kind of naive surf music, made their own by Jeremy Gluck's ironic vocals and Robin Wills' classic pop songwriting.
They enjoyed a Top 10 hit with "Summer Fun" then repaired to Rockfield to make this album, very much in the tradition of the Flamin' Groovies' "Shake Some Action" LP recorded there a few years previously. It has stood the test of time as one of the classic rock & roll documents, with such monster tunes as "I Can't Pretend", "I Wish It Could Be 1965 Again", "Saw My Death in a Dream Last Night", "Violent Times", and so many more.
The line-up was:
