On July 2nd, 1998, The Hellecasters convened in Baden-Baden, Germany to tape an appearance for the live TV music show "Ohne Filter". This was one of the only three shows that the band played together all year, although you wouldn't know it from the rollicking set. Drawing on material from their first three CDs, the band shows those unlucky enough to have not caught these axemasters live before what they have been missing - serious guitar playing, a slammin' rhythm section and material that is in turns beautiful, fun, haunting and brilliant.
The three core members are John Jorgenson, Jerry Donahue, and Will Ray.
John Jorgenson, a three-time “Guitarist Of The Year” as voted by the Academy Of Country Music, has worked with Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Desert Rose Band, Roy Orbison, John Prine, Michael Nesmith, Elton John…
Jerry Donahue also comes from country music and is widely respected in the field -- he worked with George Harrison, Elton John, Robert Plant, Fairport Convention and Roy Orbison. Donahue's forte is supernatural string-bending that even won the vocal praise of Danny Gatton.
Will Ray can put Tom Jones, Steve Earle, Joe Walsh, Thomas Dolby and Solomon Burke on his résumé.
