Inspired by Gaius great texts about the early German rock scene and the first wave of krautrock, I onced again dived into kraurock-spacerockers Guru Guru early discography, and remembered how great, far out och way ahead of it's time those dudes was. I also read recently that they were called themselves Guru Guru Groove Band when they started in Heidelberg back in 1968. Below are their first two albums, in some way those two album are more minimal, more drone and had a kind of jam-feel than the Känguru album from 1972 and onwards. Very nice and bad ass guitars with monotone and haunting bass lines and beat.

Questions nobody ever dare to ask and answers from 'Absurdistan'. In the end, when Manni Neumeier asked: Was tut ihr eigentlich, wenn ihr mal älter seid? (What are you doing really when you're growing up), we rolled on the floor laughing.

Here's another one from my German Rock Collection. Pete 'Wyoming' Bender has his nick not without any reason. Born into a military US-family he spent his youth in France, Germany and the USA. When in Germany (Munich) he started as a musician, using his nick for the band:

RYP,
Re, re yesterday's posts.
Your patience amazes me.
There seems to be a psychological inability of some people to follow rules, They just get determined to break rules just for the sake of it.
They don't just do it once, they keep trying to find ways to stretch the envelope.
They just make themselves look childish.
Re other blogs,
EGROJ blog has been having troubles with downloads, don't know if they have fixed it yet.
Instrumentalmusiccafe is currently down.
"My Blog was Censored Four Times and my Membership was Suspended.
Each time i Strived to create a new Blog, i was Bored!"
I don't think 'Bored' was actually the word he was looking for.[He's deutsch,
I think.]
The new link he posted does not work"
More later!

Great idea to revive the GURU GURU legacy in TZ Land! Which reminds me …
My wife and I married in September 1992, in a small village near Heidelberg (incidentally, a few metres from the house where Rio Reiser of "Ton Steine Scherben" spent his displaced persons childhood). We engaged a party band with the rather awkward name of "Dr Ted & Die Tiger". From waltzes for the bride's and groom’s parents to a host of tried and tested 60s/70s oldies, they played everything brilliantly to get our party going deep into the next morning. The fine and crafted lead guitar player was a pale tall man with a half bald head, of whom we knew nothing more. And we didn't care much about his background at that time, on that very special occasion.
It was only years later that I learned that our hired wedding guitarist was none other than AX GENRICH, the legendary and style-defining axeman of the first five Guru Guru albums. Ouch! 20 years later I made direct, new contact with Ax G., who lives in the Heidelberg countryside, in a four-castle village on top of Neckar river ... but that's another story. Best, TC
@ Gaius
Thank you for posting Halfway.
I don't have any of their albums. Ever since the lads left home fifteen years ago I have no idea of what's going on in contemporary music.
