LONNiE PiTCHFORD - All Around Man - 1994
"In addition to the acoustic and electric guitar, Pitchford was skilled at the one-string guitar and diddley bow, a one-string instrument of African origin, as well as the double bass, piano and harmonica. He was a protégé of Robert Lockwood Jr., from whom he learned the style of Robert Johnson. For a while, Pitchford performed accompanied by Johnny Shines and Lockwood. His own debut album, All Round Man was released on Rooster Blues Records in 1994. Pitchford performed at the Smithsonian Festival of American Folklife, and at the 1984 Downhome Blues Festival in Atlanta, Georgia.
In November 1998, Pitchford died at his home in Lexington, from AIDS. He was survived by a wife, Minnie Pitchford, along with a daughter from a previous relationship. A diddley bow is featured on his headstone which was paid for by John Fogerty and Rooster Blues Records through the Mt. Zion Memorial Fund. His grave is located near the grave of Elmore James, in the New Port Baptist Church cemetery in Holmes County, Mississippi."

LUCAS RENNEY Strange Glory - 2009
My review of Lucas Renney's album from way back in the middle ages when I used to write such things:
"Brilliant gold-leaf edged midnite blue-hearted songs careworn by english rain.
I’m not much for Bests. Oh, I love reading Best Of lists but i’m just not interested in making them. But I have to make an exception with Lucas Renney‘s Strange Glory album. I’m a sucker for misery and heartache with a wash of darkness, for literate lyrics, well crafted songs, and strings. Strange Glory brings all that in a lush yet understated acoustic englishness (produced by Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins!) that intimately rewards with each listen. One can imagine Renney singing the raw poetry of his late night diary entrys direct to disc. If you ever had your heartbroken this is the album you wish you had to play over and over and over again. iTUNES tells me i’ve listened to the songs on Strange Glory at least 35 times each and my heart is far from broken! File near the beautiful heartbreak of Richard Hawley and the smart lyrical dexterity and pop cunning of Elvis Costello. Seriously: All Killer No filler."

Yesterday, after a request, I posted the first del Amitri album with disc of single B-sides. Here is Pat 1 of the rest of the del Amitri albums in my collection. Yesterday counts as Part 0.
Del Amitri are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Glasgow in 1980. They are best known for their 1990 single "Nothing Ever Happens", which reached No. 11 in the UK, and their 1995 hit "Roll to Me", which reached the top 10 in both Canada and the United States. They have released seven studio albums, five of which have reached the UK top 10. Del Amitri has sold over six million albums worldwide.

Saw them in a sea of self-absorbed chatty hipsters in San Francisco '91 or '92... when they split, I preferred Son Volt, my wife preferred Wilco, but we both really liked both. Ofc, Wilco's evolved quite a bit and Son Volt keeps returning to various roots. How the heck is that 35 years ago?!
