…and now for something completely different! 3115 - 2026

These damned religious fanatics, politicians, warlords, and so on... Instead of sending the children of their peoples to THEIR OWN WARS, these idiots should settle their differences in large arenas with boxing matches or football games! For example, the "peace-making" Evangelical Messiah Agent Orange against the belligerent Putin, or the Pope in his ridiculous disguise against the bearded Ayatollahs with beards down to their navels... More examples welcome! - RYP

PLEASE READ OUR RULES:
We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS OR BOOKS RELEASED IN 2024 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS OR BOOKS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966 and Gaius R.I.P.

Music of Guinea Conackry
Perfect time for a mixed bag before re-upping some Syliphone recording label SLP series (1965 - 1984) for Musikaman.

Sandaly Kanté who with his wife Nmawa Kanté, had a huge hit with a song which addresses marriage in African culture and misogyny traditions... Included is the extended single version.
A Bembeya Jazz National K7 I bought in Ziguinchor, which has a slightly different track listing to Richie Nixan's 'Bembeya Jazz - Moussokoro' post.
And the first solo album by the then 63 year old Guinean musician, griot and guitar virtuoso, who sadly passed away in 2006.

It's Arno Nyms Experimental CD-R Cardboard Box, Volume 7
(Today: QA’A-Special No.1)
---------------------------------------------
Continuing with interesting discs from my cardbox of obscure CD-Rs Rs by small european experimental projects that I bought between 2008 and 2016 at various concerts at my favorite club… As I announced yesterday, today I'm bringing you the first part of a Q'AA special – a very impressive experimental/ psychedelic/ Krautrock band from Catalonia/Spain:
“Q’AA the last of a small secret genealogy of unclassifiable bands that use music for magic and quasi religious purposes. Using a wide variety of instruments – some self made – and configurations, their range moves from aural assaults to zen pastoral moments. Psychedelic in all its wide spectrum, repetition, dissonance, prehistoric rites, oriental folk, electronics, ritual noise, chamber music, and avant-garde leanings give birth to a music that feels alive, mysterious and yet full of emotion.”

1. Qa'a – Vesprada (2009) (CD-R)
„Vesprada is the first album by Qa’a and is a record in its own league. Its music flows with little regard of styles sometimes fusing psychedelia, electronica, noise, dada, ambient, tribal/primitivistic music, free jazz, dub and free improvisation all in one song. A point somewhere in between meticulous composition and wild improvisation, it sounds like an undiscovered magical underworld.”

2. Qa'a – Chi'en (2009) (CD)
“Chi’en is an 80 minute long psychedelic trip that feels like a single unity moving forward. In this second album by Qa’a almost all the musical threads of the band are deepened; It’s more hypnotic and repetitive, noisier and more dissonant, somewhat more abstract and at the same time more folk although there are less ambient/drone/free jazz parts than in Vesprada. It’s a record of extremes, from nude moments to walls of dissonance and harrowing noise with a psychedelic production that has tons of layers, sounds and instruments thrown in for good measure. Hans Joachim Irmler from Faust, a professed fan, aided the band to mix and master the album.”

3. Jochen Arbeit & Huan 12’’ (2013)
The third and last Album by Qa’a is called “Sang” and it’s a 3 LP set so I can only post that tomorrow!
As my last album for today I give you Jochen Arbeit & Huan!
Huan is the master mind behind Qa’a (I posted his first solo CD-R yesterday) and this 12’’ record is a collaboration project between him and Jochen Arbeit, guitarrist of Einstürzende Neubauten and Die Haut. “Armed with guitars and drum machines they move between epic ascendent passages, ambient, walls of noise and no-wave dissonance to create a new Germanic-Catalan psychedelia. “

That's it for today - I hope (some of) you find this music as interesting as I do! See you tomorrow with the third Qa’a-album. Enjoy the heat - it'll be christmas time in 6 months!

"John Schooley’s a travelin’ man. On the cover of his second LP for Swiss garage label Voodoo Rhythm, we find the local one-man band wielding a machete, guitar safely at his shoulder, collaged next to the Eiffel Tower and the pyramids. No, Schooley hasn’t gone world music; we still get his bluesy stomp and slide, at a marathon 14 songs. With a guitar, harmonica, and kick drum, he unfolds tales of his beloved South via a few choice covers (namely a cello-laden stroll through the late Lee Hazlewood’s “My Baby Cried All Night Long”), a killer instrumental (the rockabilly romp “Hudcore”), and even a little electro-dalliance (“One Man Against the World Part II”). And at the end of the World, Schooley’s true to his roots, whether blasting through the Oblivians thump of “Every Day Can Get You Down” or the holler of “The Crooked Path.” Roll on.”

Good evening folks!
Some kind soul a few days ago posted mutiny in heaven the birthday party doc. Sadly, for me, I can't get the download from my Amazon tablet to a memory stick to watch on tv - the 1.5gb size is too big. Sadly, also, there seems to be no online service to reduce the size. Basically, would someone be kind enough to reduce the size to about 700mb in the hope it's small enough to put on a memory stick for me to be able to watch on tv? I appreciate it's a big ask but I thought I'd try.
