Enjoy!
Music of Guinea Conackry continues.
Fodéba Keïta (1921 – 1969) was a Guinean dancer, musician, writer, playwright, composer and politician. In 1948 he founded the first professional African theatrical troupe 'Theatre Africain'. By 1958, after independence, they transformed the ensemble into 'Les Ballets Africains' into a national cultural ambassador and toured the world. In 1961 Sékou Touré appointed him minister for defence and security, but sadly for him in 1969, was imprisoned for alleged complicity in the Labé Plot and shot dead without trial.
Here are 3 wonderful examples of the marvellous work he did bringing the centuries old Guinean culture to the unsuspecting world.
These recordings feature early performances of Sory Kandia Kouyate, Bakary Sissoko, Daouda Diabaté, Fanta Kamissako, Diéli Magan, Kanté Facelli and last but certainly not least, the legendary (and much more from him in days to come) Kanté Manfila.
Bet you can't wait.

It's Arno Nyms Experimental CD-R Cardboard Box, Volume 6
---------------------------------------------
Next three items from my cardbox of obscure CD-Rs Rs by small european experimental projects that I bought between 2008 and 2016 at various concerts at my favorite club…
1. Fyoelk – Trampolin – CD-R (2007)-
Another one from Fyoelk who is a musician, DJ and graphic artist from The Netherkands (Or is it Denmark? Or Belgium?). This is the CD-R edition of his debut tape “Trampolin” from 2007 with “moody german electronics - though it’s not electronics in the scarf and squeal sense, but bleepy soft and semi musical…”

2. SFTSTPS – Tour CD-R (2013)
“Since 2009, Nick Houde (USA/Berlin) has been presenting the music of SFTSTPS—a wild mash-up and cut-up collage based on loops, samples, and field recordings—in a wide variety of DIY communities across the U.S. and Europe. SFTSTPS is the sound of computers with feelings. This means being human and using the wrong sound…”. There are a lot of tracks around by SFTSTPS but I couldn’t find any traces of this CD-R which I purchased in 2013.

3. Huan – Vells – CD-R (2009)
“Primitivistic music inspired by magic with a varied instrumentation that goes from electric viola, piano and snake-charmer’s flute to cymbals, modular synths and self-made instruments, with almost all other possibilities in between but with virtually no guitar.”
Huan is the alter ego of Víctor Hurtado, a multi-instrumentalist and producer and distinguished member of Barcelonas experimental scene in which he is active with many projects. He’s also the creative mind behind psychedelic-noise band QA’A! Remember that name - because I'll be back tomorrow with a special feature on this extremely interesting Band from spain!

A mixtape made by the late Chris Johnson, boss of the Deep Blues Fest, of artists who played the fest in 2008. I have a 3 disc collection of tracks called Live at The Deep Blues Festival 2008 that I’ll post eventually but for some reason disc 1 has no artist or song info so that’ll be real fun to try to fix ;0)

Hello Mr Kleeg
Yesterday you mentioned Sékou Diabaté. Will you share some of his solo albums?
Thanks.

That sounds fine by me Richie, I was hoping to go more down the tradition line myself, you can't beat a great 500 year old tune played on the kora and balafon... Twist my arm and I may even post my own recording of Djeli Moussa Diawara and Ali Farka Toure's first performances in London back in 1988.
Much welcome Stinky! Got 1 more issue to post tomorrow
