…and now for something completely different! 3121 - 2026

These damned religious fanatics, politicians, warlords, and so on... Instead of sending the children of their peoples to THEIR OWN WARS, these idiots should settle their differences in large arenas with boxing matches or football games! For example, the "peace-making" Evangelical Messiah Agent Orange against the belligerent Putin, or the Pope in his ridiculous disguise against the bearded Ayatollahs with beards down to their navels... More examples welcome! - RYP

PLEASE READ OUR RULES:
We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS OR BOOKS RELEASED IN 2024 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS OR BOOKS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966 and Gaius R.I.P.

West African Music continues with Gilbert Rouget and Leo Sarkisian. Two important figures in, pardon my French, 'ethnomusicology'.

In 1947 Gilbert Rouget established the recording studio at the Musée de l'Homme, where he also initiated a label for publishing field recordings gathered by researchers on international missions.
During expeditions to equatorial and western Africa (1946–70), as well as making 3 films, he collected many recordings and wrote many articles. The originality and scholarship of which have made substantial contributions to African ethnomusicology.
In 1961 Leo Sarkisian, a recording engineer, travelled to West Africa to record musicians for the Tempo International recording label.
Whilst there he assisted in training audio technicians in Guinea's nascent recording studios and helped develop technical expertise in the nation's new national radio station.
His recordings of Guinean musicians were released on a series of 45rpm and 33.3rpm discs, they represent the first recorded examples of Guinean music after its independence in 1958.

It's Arno Nyms Experimental CD-R Cardboard Box, Volume 13
--------------------------------------------------------------
So here we are… As promised yesterday (or was it a threat?), today I’ve selected three items from my collection of obscure experimental CD-Rs that go beyond what most people would call music. These CD-Rs contain nothing but pure noise and completely non-musical sound material. Listen at your own risk!

1. State Of Low Activities – Sleepwalking CD-R (2010)
State Of Low Activities is a very obscure CD-R by the experimental ambient/drone project Sleepwalking of Sisto Rossi, an American living in Germany. The album consists of slow-moving drone and dark ambient pieces built from sustained feedback tones, subtle electronic textures, field-recording-and atmospheres, minimal melodic content, and gradual shifts in density rather than conventional song structures.

2. Azoikum – Endzeit – CD-R (2008)
Azoikum is a german Power Electronics and Harsh Noise outfit which was founded back in 1997 by Stefan Widmann. The contents Azoikum uses are mainly sick and dark subjects, going deep into the depth of humanity's madness and depravity, for the most part from a rather misanthropic point of view.
This CD-R contains one 72 minute track of pure noise. No – your speakers are not broken this is just a case of Azoikum!

3. Die Reitenden Leichen - 1 x Leichen CD-R (2010)
Die Reitenden Leichen (The Riding Corpses) is a german Harsh Noise / Wall Noise project started in 2008 by Matthias Mützlitz. The project has maintained a deliberately low public profile, with very little biographical information released by its creator. The sounds on this CD-R (there is really no reason to call it music!) was released on a free giveaway CD-R at a live concert in an edition of 20!

I think this noisy cacophony should be enough to make everyone's ears bleed—or is there anyone here who wants to hear more of this? Let me know!

Good morning, everyone, out of curiosity, I searched Google for "Grateful Dead, Dark Star, longest version." Several results came up. There are actually versions lasting over an hour, though these were spliced together from multiple recordings made over the years. Two results stood out to me: a very long version said to be on the CD *Dick's Picks, Vol. 4* (https://www.dead.net/archives/1996/artwork/dicks-picks-volume-4), and another from De Doelen Hall in Rotterdam, May 11, 1972 (https://www.herbibot.com/?show=1972/5/11&sc=Deal). So, here is my question: Does anyone have either of these CDs and would be kind enough to share them? I would really appreciate it. Personally, I’m only familiar with recordings that run about 20 minutes (give or take). Thanks in advance for your time and effort. Best regards, Mike.

Hi all, I have a request. I've just found out about a tv show originally shown on an ABC Nashville affiliate called "The Beat" . There were 26 episodes total and they were released on 6 discs by Bearsville back in 2005. does anyone have these to share? I saw a Barbara Lynn track and it was pretty amazing. Here's hoping.
