Ultra Sonic marks a significant departure for the Eliminators. It also retains their signature sound. Adding sophistication, country, and excellent arranging to their crunchy sound, and reducing the reverb on the rhythm guitar, all add up to excellent listening. It's good to hear new material from this rarest of bands, real longboarders playing real surf music. All 14 surf instros are winners.PARAFIN JUNGLE*** This is an excursion into sonic territory that the Eliminators have not previously ventured, the land of Memphis flavored instros, where gig flowing notes and effected country twang rule. It's melodic and prancing, with an excellent sax break from Billy Swanson.
E-FIVE**** Big twang reverb, ringing chords, and a shimmering sounds await as Joe Kurkowski's guitar floats on a sea of shallow vibrato. The break is a mean double picked low-E grind followed by a great and gentle vibrato riff. "E-Five" is big and very satisfying.
CROSS STEPPIN'**** Damped rhythms and moody bass under flowing lead chords give way to a great riff, and then the backtrack transitions into a cool solid beat with ska rhythm guitar. This is an infectious and haunting track, with power and excellent arranging.
DR. JELLY FINGER**** An effect electronic whirring keyboard excursion over solid damped rhythm guitar and a sorta B-52's progression, and quirky surf lead guitar. Quite an unusual track. The page of "Dr. Jelly Finger" followed by the evil laugh identifies "Dr. Jelly Finger" as a proctologist who enjoys his work and your discomfort. Pretty darn cool.
THE BREEZE & I**** Ernesto Lacuoña's classic melody is beautifully played out. This is just about as good as it gets, just shy of the exquisite Vibrants' version. The shimmering tone and delicate playing are perfect for the melody. The flute verse gives in an exotic air. - amazon

Fleetwood Mac – Shrine ‘69
Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA, USA - January 25, 1969
RYKO Records RCD 10424 (USA 1999)
Peter Green ( guitar, vocals)
Jeremy Spencer (slide guitar, piano, vocals)
Danny Kirwan (guitar, vocals)
John McVie (bass, vocals)
Mick Fleetwood (drums)
Recorded during the Mac's second US tour on January 25, 1969, this live album puts you right there up by the stage. Great sound, it's only near the end you realise it was actually recorded in mono. It features the group halfway between leaving their blues roots and reaching the powerful peak of "Oh Well" and "The Green Manalishi". With Danny Kirwan fully integated into the group and Jeremy Spencer still to the fore and fronted by the searing guitar of Peter Green, this album will thrill all devotees of the original Mac. If you like the "Boston Blues" album, you will love this one recorded a year earlier.
Finally released in 1999, this album includes versions of the band's then-recent hits, "Albatross" and "Need Your Love So Bad", as well as more unusual songs like "Before The Beginning" and "Lemon Squeezer".
1. Tune Up (2:10)
2. If You Be My Baby (4:28)
3. Something Inside Of Me (4:03)
4. My Sweet Baby (4:26)

WIRE - Read & Burn 01
Pink Flag Records 2002
http://www24.zippyshare.com/v/knsFjHt8/file.html
With the 1990 departure of Robert Gotobed (now Robert Grey), Wire ceased to exist, becoming the trio WIR. A decade later, however, the unpredictable foursome reunited and band began recording completely new material in late 2001. That first studio collaboration resulted in Read & Burn 01. On the vintage foundation of simple, minimal patterns repeated to often-hypnotic effect, Wire builds a beefed-up, contemporary wall of sound. In keeping with the title, this material is urgent and intense, feelings conveyed by the music's sheer pace. The three-chord wonder "In the Art of Stopping" kicks things off frantically and the band goes into overdrive on the deconstructed speed metal/hardcore onslaught of "Comet," with Grey's characteristically relentless, rigid beat at the center of the sonic maelstrom; aside from Colin Newman's trademark sneer, this could be an outtake from Motörhead's Overkill. Although there's a respite on the shouty "I Don't Understand," with its ominous, lumbering groove recalling "Lowdown," elsewhere Wire sustains the amphetamine pace. They end with a bang on "The Agfers of Kodack," an assaultive number enveloped in Bruce Gilbert's swarm-of-bees guitar. During a 1977 Wire gig at London's Roxy, a heckler shouted at the band after every number, "That's better, now louder and faster." Read & Burn 01 suggests that 25 years later, Wire might still be hearing that voice egging them on. -- Wilson Neate (AllMusic)

WIRE - Send
Pink Flag Records 2003
http://www65.zippyshare.com/v/rcVy8DaO/file.html
This is the culmination, perhaps, of the group's 1999 re-formation -- an outcome that only attendees of the terse performances and buyers of the EPs could have forecasted. Unlike a lot of re-formed groups, Wire chose not to be a jukebox with its old material while performing in front of its multi-generational crowds. The bandmembers didn't merely run through pieces of their beloved discography, or even inject new life into them -- they tore through them with a vigorous energy that teetered on the brink of violence. The new material collected and built on here takes on the same tightly wound, clenched-teeth direction. Thick walls of clamor are constructed on each song. The opening "In the Art of Stopping" is a relatively unassuming din of whipsaw guitars and percussion that could double as the sound of railroad ties being driven into the ground. Colin Newman's voice hectors ominously as it slowly shifts from one channel to the other and back again. All the buzzing sets up the viscous and highly repetitive grinding of "Mr. Marx's Table," where Newman takes on a more hospitable tone. On "Spent," Bruce Gilbert practically screams at the top of his lungs and fights to be heard over an overwhelming bank of industrial guitars that twist with agitated riffs and squeals. The only break from the onslaught comes during the closing "99.9," which takes nearly four minutes to be worked into another rich lather of vibrating menace. Dynamic, taut, feisty, and clever as ever, Send is this group's fourth-best album. -- Andy Kellman (AllMusic)

Colin Newman (vocals, guitar)
Graham Lewis (bass, vocals)

By now most of you may know that Wire is one of my favorite post punk bands. I particularly like these two albums for their minimal urgent churning buzzsaw repetitions. I hope you will too. -- JohnnyDiego

El Tigre - Thank You so much for any help you can provide. I was askin Jillem because i'd originally gotten them at his blog but I should've put it to the group. The REALLY funny thing is i was just leaving a "Thank You" for you over at Willards place :) I knew i'd recently seen 2 other Augustus Pablo albums that i lost, so i did'nt ask Jillem for them. Finally remembered that it was at Willards place I'd seen them. I guess the blogosphere is a small world after all :) Thanks again,
Noel-23
Thank you for Eddie Hinton and Fred Neil Gyro
Jc Ork & Martin,
Many thanks for the vintage ska, rocksteady & reggae. I was particularly taken with the Orange Street collection. Any additional Rocka Shacka titles you could share would be most appreciated. Wonderful stuff!
Thanks again.
Really digging The Eliminators. Thanks!
