Bob Asklöf – The French Recordings
Personal compilation
Bob Asklöf (born 1942) was a Swedish singer and actor who was located in France in the early sixties. Although he barely spoke French, he managed to record 6 EPs in that language phonetically and sold many records, mainly to girls who were attracted by his looks. He became an actor and played in many films, and later ended up in porn movies. He died in April 2011.
He also sang in English, German and Swedish.

---Don Everly is rumoured to have contributed to Gram Parsons’ International Submarine Band album “Safe At Home”, but it is not apparent which tracks, if any, he sang on. He did contribute sleeve notes.
The Sundazed CD re-release liner notes say that Don Everly and GlenCampbell were brought in "for the harmonies" which hints at multiple tracks but is pretty vague... They both give endorsement to the album on the back cover of the original vinyl LP.
The International Submarine Band (ISB) was formed in 1965 by country rock pioneer Gram Parsons (while a theology student at Harvard University) and John Nuese (a guitar player for local rock group The Trolls). Nuese is largely credited with having persuaded Parsons (who was a folkie) to pursue the country rock sound he would later be remembered for. The two subsequently formed The ISB. Parsons' work with the band predates his better known ventures with The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and The Fallen Angels with Emmylou Harris.
After having released a couple of unsuccessful singles, they recorded, “Safe At Home”, their only LP, in 1967, but though it was finished by December 1967, it went unreleased for several months. Parsons left the ISB fold in February 1968, to perform with The Byrds for their “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo” album. Lee Hazelwood was unhappy with Parsons' choice. He obtained ownership of the name "International Submarine Band", and tried to prevent Parsons' vocal tracks from appearing on “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo”. However, these legal issues were addressed by the time of the album's release and Parsons' lead vocals graced the songs "You're Still On My Mind", "Life In Prison" and "Hickory Wind". The ISB's only full length release, “Safe At Home”, wasn't released by LHI until the spring of 1968, when the group had officially ceased to exist. Nonetheless, it is considered one of the first authentic country rock albums.---

Have just seen the whole series of Jamaican Serenades available on soulseek... Managed to pick up Vols. 48 and 50 which I'd not seen before. Like the DC++ option, download speeds are ridiculously quick although best to queue one album at a time on soulseek so as not to annoy anyone... DC++ works differently and its ok to queue the lot up at the same time... hope this helps...
