I came from a background of swing music, the first time around. I played in some big bands that learned the music and the style. This new wave of swing adds an edge of athleticism and some raunchiness that I didn't see before, though I'm not old enough to have been in the clubs at the time--maybe it was there. In any case, it is well-performed and that edge energizes the music so that even listening at your desk, you have to tap a foot, drum on the table, something.
There is a good variety of bands, so each track is a new experience. Definitely as good a "sample pack" as you are likely to see. - Eric A. Jewett
