This is so magnificent. Kirk was a true giant; diving deep in the jazz traditions, reaching out to the low-down mouth organ of none other than Sonny Boy Williams, Kirk was still able to sit on the crest of the wave of modernism! Or avant-garde, as they often call it... This is an excellent live jazz album, with the great Spaniard Tete Montoliu playing some hot boppish/mainstremish piano. If you like, for instance, CHarles Mingus, THIS is the album for you; if you like "avant-garde" jazz, hard-bop, free jazz - probably... You should get to know Roland (Rahsaan) Kirk!
