Also featured are many of the hard to find and previously unreissued sides by Big Mama Thornton...a woman who almost singlehandedly defined ''independent women blues.'' Highlights include the swinging Ella Thomas with Heartsman's band in a classic, early 60's West Coast shuffle that burns hot!!! Also making an impression is the title track by ''Jessie Mae'' ...a real hard core rocker from Los Angeles.
