We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful.
All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy.
Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

Here is Germany's finest guitar player Volker Kriegel's lovely debut album under his own name from 1968, a typical of time crossover between jazz and pop, a very groovy hippie-album incl two nice Beatles covers, about a year later he join the might vibraphonist Dave Pike Set and recorded a buch of classics for the lovely MPS Records.

FYI . . .
For all of you out there that have been enjoying and appreciating Bob's efforts at reconstituting the Great R&B labels of the 40's and 50's, I want to point out that long before he started that project, he was better know around The Twilightzone here as, Gospel Bob.
For years he brought the same diligence and dedication to assembling all the Gospel collections that are being shared currently by Bucephalus. Bob's much too humble to mention it and Bucephalus is apparently unaware of it but it should be noted.
Thanks again Bob for all you do and how you do it.

Last friday we had a bit of fun with the Bob Dylan top 5's, didn't we? I thought it was very interesting and inspiring to read some of you regulars lists. :-)
So, why don't we do again? My choice is Bruce Springsteen this time (an artist most of us like). A top 5 album list, and a top 5 song list (I know it's hard, but give it a try, this is just for fun, no prestige or elitism at all). I start!
My top 5 Bruce Springsteen album list:
1. Darkness On The Edge Of Town
2. The River
3. Magic
4. Born To run
5. Born In The USA
My top 5 Bruce Springsteen songs list:
1. Atlantic City (MTV Plugged Version)
2. Youngstown (Live In New York Version)
3. Rendezvous (The River Outtake)
4. Loose Ends (The River Outtake)
5. Tougher Than The Rest
Regards,
The Boss

Hi - It's always good to have new contributors.
Using Krackenfiles...
I presume you have got as far as selecting or dagging your files into the dotted line box and then pressing 'Start Upload Your Files'
Just below the green button it shows the files loading up. When it finishes there is the name/title of your files and next to it it says "Copy Link". Left click the mouse on that (it will say 'Copied') and then go to where you are going to put your message - right click the mouse and then 'paste' the link onto the page.

Just to let you know I have no problem at all with people re-uploading anything I have put on TZ in the past - for a start you wouldn't know where the 'albums' came from, and anyway I'm pleased that things are shared further. That's what we're here for after all.
The Bap-Tizum Gospel series (if I remember correctly) I just downloaded tracks individually from a site I found and made up a load of 'albums'. Many of the tracks are pretty poor quality - but there are some obscure tracks in there that were not readily available.
Yes, since I started I reckon I must have put over a 1000 links here.
Folk, Indie, Western Swing, Bluegrass, Soul, R&B, Gospel etc. and the Postwar Female R&B and Female Soul/R&B artists plus the Soulful Sisters series.
At the end of the day, I got pretty much everything from someone else as well - so we're all the same!

Ok my friend, if Dylan was like a father Bruce Springsteen is like a brother!!
Here's my list:
1. Darkness On The Edge Of Town (Absolutely perfect!!)
2. The River (Tbe best double album ever ... I have three different copies)
3. Born To Run (..... 'cause tramps like us/ baby we were born to run ..
Goosebumps and lump in the throat!)
4. Born In The U.S.A. (one of the first album I bought in my life)
5. The Seeger Sessions (a great artist who plays homage to another greta
artist)
The songs
1. Thunder Road (carved in my heart)
2. Born To Run (even now, forty years after hearing it for the first time,
I can't help but be moved when I hear the chorus)
3. The River (real true American proletarian imagery)
4. No Surrender (we learned more from a three minute record than we ever
learned in school... As is true!)
5. Hungry Heart (an anthem!)
Great Boss!!!!

I had the luck to grow up 2 miles south of Asbury Park, in the last decade of Freedom for kids and teens (the 70's) and by the time I was 18 (78) had seen Bruce live about 8 times, 95 was last time I saw Bruce in concert, no desire any longer, to many other up and comers to see live.
@Aaron Vincent
'My choice is Bruce Springsteen this time (an artist most of us like)' - er...well...I wonder.
My friend's favourite Springsteen albums are the following bootlegs:
How I Saved Rock 'N' Roll from Those Pesky Proggers: Live at the Rainbow, 1976 (8-hour set excluding encores)
Myth-Making for Modern Teenagers: At the London Hilton, 1978 (12-hour set including a 38-minute 'Born to Run (and Run')
Bruce Unplugged (4-sided blank vinyl edition)
Blue Collar Broadway: Springsteen Sings Woody Guthrie and 'Fiddler on the Roof' (includes his classic version of Topol's 'If I Were a Rich Man')
Bruce Springsteen/The Clash - Fighting the Power at Columbia Records (platinum CD edition)
I can't help you with top 5 songs: I've never got to the end of one.
Just a bit of fun, as you say.
@ Aaron Vincent
Inneressin’ (as Neil Young would have said). This is much more clear cut than the Dylan task. So here are my top Brooce albums:
1. Darkness On The Edge Of Town
2. Born To Run
3. Letter To You
4. Nebraska
5. The Rising
In terms of favourite songs - not all are BS compositions:
1. Chimes Of Freedom (from live ep)
2. Jersey Girl (from the live box set)
3. Stand On It (single ‘b’ side)
4. Johnny Bye Bye (Tracks song - one and a half minute eulogy to Elvis)
5. Independence Day
Interesting Bruce-choices so far! A bit fun that all of us include at least one late Bruce-album, but all of choose a different on! :-D
Personally I think Bruce after Tunnel Of Love are a bit underrated, always when it come to "lists" is Bruce albums between 1973-1982 that are the "high lights"?
@tads
Really cool choices by your friend. ;-) I think the unplugged double is hard to beat! :-D
Dear anonymous friend thank you for the Bap-Tizum Gospel 78's series, maybe I didn't see it right, I missed it, where can I find volume 2? , thank you.

Thanks for the Wes McGee & Kimmi Rhodes for Joe in Dublin. After Joe's original request I uploaded two Kimmi albums but forgot to post the link. By the time I realised & was about to post it, someone else posted the same two albums, so I didn't bother. You can never have enough Kimmi !!

2 Tone: The Sound of Coventry

Free Friday Films brings you a gorgeous animated film from West Africa...
KIRIKOU AND THE SORCERESS
Michel Ocelot is a French animator who didn’t make his first feature until he was 55 years old- and what a great debut it is. Kirikou and the Sorceress draws deeply from the rich folk tales of West Africa as it spins a series of wild tales focused on Kirikou- a young African boy with an impish spirit and, shall we say, larger-than-life powers.
But Kirikou is no superhero- he’s a kid, one who often doesn’t know better, but manages to save the day anyway using his wits. Ocelot, who spent most of his childhood in Guinea, creates a beautiful geometric style of animation to tell this authentic folk story with a flavor that’s all his own. Kirikou is tiny tiny tiny, but size definitely does not matter here. His imaginative approach to any problem (in this case, a sorceress who has been terrorizing the village for years) makes him a spiritual sibling to Krishna; the parallels between those Hindu tales and these are impossible to ignore, and a refreshing contrast to the kind of children’s fare we’re subjected to in the West.
Not that everyone appreciated the film when it came out- despite its numerous awards, it was banned in the U.S. and the U.K., two prudish cultures who apparently couldn’t deal with the myriad Black female breasts and tiny penises visible in the film. Despite their completely non-sexualized depiction, and the obvious fact that people from that time and place barely wore clothes, it was clearly too much for our repressed societies, preventing Kirikou from reaching mass audiences in these countries.
No matter, you can enjoy it now. Kirikou penetrates the Sorceress’ oddly pseudo-mechanical forces, he digs deep tunnels past creepy and cute animals, he dresses up like a bird and flies high, he tames a wild boar, he chats with a wizened old sage deep inside a mountain- and more. The film spurred two successful sequels, but it all starts here, with a beautiful blend of natural and supernatural, animal and spirit, silly and serious.

Big thanks for taking the trouble to digitise and post the Wes McGhee, Maines Brothers, Kimmie Rhodes and Jesse "Guitar" Taylor LPs. Alongside the Richard Dobson bonanza from earlier this should keep us in great Texas music for a good while.
If howstean has Kimmie Rhodes' first album "Kimmie Rhodes and the Jackalope Brothers" from 1985, that would add to the feast.
Thanks again,
Joe in Dublin.

I agree, the live box set really stands on it's own, in my opinion many of the liver versions from the box kill the original studio versions, esp from the first three studio albums :-)

Fingers crossed that I did this correctly. My rip.
Should anyone have some Cheap Trick to share, that would be fun. More earlier than later although I wouldn't turn my nose up to more recent recordings.

As far as Bob, Bruce or any other artist personnel Fav List, I think it all depends on when you were born and the age you were when you first discovered the artist. Those who were 15 - 20 years old when Dylan's 1st album came out and have followed him all there lives who have a definite different view in there choices than some one who discovered him through, "Slow Coming" and experienced his catalog from that point. The Song writing, the social time and his live performances were totally different from the previous 20 years.
If one first experience Bruce through, "Born In The USA" and had that as their gateway to him, their view would be quite different from someone who followed him from, "Greetings" on up. His live performances certainly changed after the Mega success of "Born", he couldn't even get close to the edge of the stage for fear of being pulled off by zealous fans. Gone were the days of him going into the crown and standing one a seat in the 8th row to do, "Spirits In The Night" to a crowd of 800 to 1200 people.
Anyhow, my list would be thus:
Albums:
1) Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.
2) Born To Run
3) Nebraska
4) Darkness On The Edge Of Town
5) The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle
Songs:
1) Spirit In The Night
2) Thunder Road
3) Prove It All Night
4) Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
5) Johnny 99
Thanks for sponsoring the exercise,
Burney
I have always felt that Bruce Springsteen's best album is his first, the imcomparable 'The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle'. It has everything a 'classic' album needs, great performances, great songs and a band that roars. Unforgetable!
@Burney Redding
Thanks you for your thoughtful writing and wise reasoning about when in life you discover certain artists in their careers, I am convinced you are absolutely right, feel the same way and can personally relate to it, both Bruce and Dylan, personally I discovered Bruce when Tunnel Of Love came, Dylan when Oh Mercy was released. Thanks!
@Jake
I'll have a word with my friend but he's a bit anal about his Springsteen collection and may be unwilling to lend them out. I do know he'd be very upset if Bruce Unplugged got damaged because he plays it almost as often as Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and John Cage's 4'33.
Cheers
@tads44
Brilliant answer, as your original! Ha ha ha
Thanks s32x for the final Anarcho-UK comp, nice collection. Thanks also to Gaius for the Alien Mustangs share.
Bruce Springsteen best albums:
The River,
Nebraska.
Best song: Reason to believe.
