…and now for something completely different! 1809 - 2022

These fucking politicians, warlords and religious... They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

Tedeschi Trucks Band

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is an American blues and blues rock group based in Jacksonville, Florida. Formed in 2010, the band is led by married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. Their debut album, Revelator (2011), won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Blues Album. The band has released six studio and three live albums.

After touring together in 2007 as the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival, the couple merged their respective groups to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band in 2010. Their first concert was on April 1, 2010, at the Savannah Music Festival.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tedeschi_Trucks_Band

Susan Tedeschi

Tedeschi was born on November 9, 1970, in Boston, Massachusetts, to a family of Italian ancestry and was raised in Norwell, Massachusetts. She is the great-granddaughter of Angelo Tedeschi, founder of Tedeschi Food Shops, a New England-based supermarket and convenience store chain.

After graduating Norwell High School, Tedeschi attended the Berklee College of Music, where she sang in a Gospel choir. She performed show tunes on the Spirit of Boston and received her Bachelor of Music degree in musical composition and performance at age 20. During that time, she began sitting in on blues jams at local venues and immersed herself in the Boston music scene.

Tedeschi formed the Susan Tedeschi Band in 1993, with Tom Hambridge and Adrienne Hayes. She learned how to play blues guitar in Boston from musician Tim Gearan in 1995.

Derek Trucks

Derek Trucks (born June 8, 1979) is an American guitarist, songwriter, and founder of The Derek Trucks Band. His musical style encompasses several genres and he has twice appeared on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He is the nephew of the late Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers.

Trucks was born in Jacksonville, Florida. According to Trucks, the name of Eric Clapton's band, Derek and the Dominos, had "something to do with the name [Derek] if not the spelling". By his 13th birthday, Trucks had played alongside Buddy Guy and toured with Thunderhawk.

Trucks formed The Derek Trucks Band in 1994, and by his 20th birthday, he had played with such artists as Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh, and Stephen Stills. After performing with The Allman Brothers Band for several years as a guest musician, Trucks became a formal member of the band in 1999 and appeared on the albums Peakin' at the Beacon, Live at the Beacon Theatre, Hittin' the Note and One Way Out. In 2006 Trucks began a studio collaboration with JJ Cale and Eric Clapton called The Road to Escondido. Trucks was invited to perform at the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, and after the festival, he toured as part of Clapton's band.

Truth or Fake???

Music from the Antarctic, does this really exist? Or is the noise of animals like penguins and walruses the only sound that could emerge from the southern white continent?

There is a band that called themselves 'Marie Byrd Land Band'. And Marie Byrd Land is part of Western Antarctica.It was discovered between 1933-35 by the American Richard Byrd. And he named that vast white no man's land after his wife Marie.

But of course, a band with the name Marie Byrd Land Band does not necessarily be an Antarctic band. In fact, they are from Italy, doing a mixtue between Psychedelic and Prog.

A few days ago someone requested the Essential Argo/Cadet Grooves comps. Volumes 1 to 3 were posted but the original requester then posted a message saying they now had the complete set and since then none of the other volumes (4 to 7) have appeared. So I wondered if any of those kind souls with the complete set could post the remaining volumes of this fine set of comps? Many thanks.

@ Brian F,

Some weeks ago you uploaded the first two albums by Wes McGhee - "Long Nights and Banjo Music" and "Airmail". Thank you very much for that - brought back happy memories of schlepping around West Hampstead in the late 70's.

You indicated you had the next two as well - "Landing Lights" and "... Thanks for the Chicken"; I wonder could you post them as well.

And when we are on the subject of rare (but very good) Texan music from long ago, do you or any of the contributors have any of the following;
The Maines Brothers - Route 1, Acuff Texas (1980)
- Panhandle Dancer (1982)
- Amarillo Highway (on Country Roads, 1981)
Jesse "Guitar Taylor - Texas Tattoo (1998)
Ponty Bone - Easy As Pie (1986)
Roxy Gordon - Crazy Horse Never Died (1988)
Kimmie Rhodes - & The Jackalope Bros (1981)

Hoping for a good harvest ...

Joe in Dublin.

@Joe In Dublin
I'll try and get round to the other Wes McGhee albums in the next couple of days.

I also have the Kimmie Rhodes and Jessie Taylor albums, but not the others.

Cheers
