…and now for something completely different! 1800 - 2022

These fucking politicians, warlords and religious... They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

V/A Anarcho-UK Volume #3
1 Manufactured Romance - Time Of My Life
2 Violators - Summer Of 81
3 The Blood - Megalomania
4 Anti-Pasti - No Government
5 One Way System - Jerusalem
6 A-Heads - No Rule
7 Crass - Bloody Revolutions
8 Drongos For Europe - Death's A Career
9 Rubella Ballet - Every Second Counts
11 UK Decay - For My Country
12 Zounds - War/Subvert

https://krakenfiles.com/view/iUTOSuILTq/file.html

I’ll likely post volumes 4 and 5 in the next few weeks.
The Anarcho UK punk scene emerged in 1979 in the wake of Crass. Female band members continued to be abundant in the Anarcho phase of British punk, which had been rare prior the emergence of the ’77 punk bands. (Rezillos, X-Ray-Spex, Adverts, Siouxie, Slits, Penetration, etc.) Unlike the ’77 bands the Anarcho bands had zero interest in the major label route that the Clash and Pistols had chosen, and as a result may have been destined to ultimately be less well known regardless of the quality of their music. Crass created a genuine alternative by starting their own label and helping other bands, many of whom went on to do the same. The fans were Thatcher hating youth fueled by economic disenfranchisement. If you had written off the Anarcho phase of UK punk this 5 volume set should help you do some catching up.

@Correctoman -
"Surely you must know that you have the option to turn off auto-correct (in MacOS, just like any OS)?"

I've never been able to turn off auto-correct in the Comments field in iTunes. Unchecking "Capitalize words automatically" in System Preferences>Keyboard>Text is effective in preventing that behavior, but unchecking "Correct spelling automatically" doesn't work. It still wants to auto-correct words like clavinet and hurdy-gurdy.

Any suggestions?

During lockdown, it became trendy in Spain to play the Dúo Dinámico's song "Resistiré" on balconies at high volume:

Some would have preferred Barón Rojo's "Resistiré". Both for music and lyrics:

I have "correct spelling automatically" unchecked (running Mojave 10.14). If I enter words into comments (such as "clavinet") it might offer a suggestion for another spelling, but that suggestion is a little popup. It can be ignored and doesn't change the text of what you've typed unless you specifically click on the suggestion. Is that the behavior you're seeing, or is it actually changing the words you have typed?

@ Susan Donimus

It turns out that you can't fully disable spell check in iTunes comments or lyrics. If a suggestion comes up while typing, you need to hit the "delete" or "esc" key and it will remove the suggestion and keep what you've typed.

I don't use iTunes to edit file metadata so have never come across this before. It is a little annoying and seems like a bug.

If I find a fix for this, I'll post it. Otherwise, esc/delete key is best option.

correctoman said...

@Susan Donimus. The user, "octothorpe" has a fix (or sorts) for this. It seems like a weird fix - but does seems to work.

I've never been able to turn off auto-correct in the Comments field in iTunes.
Any suggestions?

Autocorrect will try to "correct" the spelling of any word it does not find in the macOS system dictionary.

To add a word like your example, 'clavinet', to your system dictionary:

1. Open TextEdit.
2. Type the word you need to add and do not press your spacebar at the end of typing the word.
3. Right-click on the word.
4. Select the option "Learn Spelling" from the dropdown context menu.

The system dictionary should be recognised by any Mac app, including iTunes.

Hope that fixes your spilling chucker's nonsense for ever with all words you might add from now on!
