…and now for something completely different! 1648 - 2022

These arrogant fucking politicians don't give a fuck about us! They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! It is to cry for! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

THURSDAY NIGHT VIDEO

VINCE TAYLOR ANTHOLOGY (1959-1979)

Split roughly into three sections, The first part shows Vince and his backing band The Playboys miming in some classic Scopitones and TV appearances.
The second part contains Live TV & some highlights from some French concerts, proving what a rockin' little band the Playboys were.
Part three contains an appearance by Vince of French TV show 'Blue Jean' and a mini concert on "Chorus' French TV live in Paris 1979. Looking a little worse for wear, but Vince gets through it just fine.

As an audio bonus, I added the 'Vince Taylor-Brand New Cadillac' episode from Andrew Hickey's excellent podcast 'The History Of Rock Music In 500 Songs'.

A few days back, @Aaron Vincent shared some mixtapes, one of which included a track by the new wave band, Bethnal. I'd forgotten they existed! I really liked their first LP, and see they made a second (& had an In Concert appearance on the BBC, which exists as a transciption disc).
If anyone is able to share any, or all of these, I would be very grateful.

'Element of Crime' is a German band, that appeared in the second half of the'80's, in Bremen. The first album 'basically Sad' with English lyrics made no great impression. A ruined version of 'Talking Heads - Take me to River' and one track following the VU style of music was just enough to go on. Subsequently John Cale joined in for the second album as producer and adding a lot of keys. And even-though the title of this album is a mish-mash of German and English, all lyrics were in English. For the last time:

Element of Crime (Germany) - Try to be Mensch (human), 1987
https://www.imagenetz.de/xHMsg

The album sold well enough for a band that hasn't left their local region in and around Bremen. But more and more people remarked that there was a guy singing who had something to say. Consequently EOC-Mastermind Sven Regener changed lyrics from English to German and the band had a break-through with their album 'Damals, hinterm Mond (Way back then, behind the Moon)'.

This is an album when the band was seriously established and and Sven Regener - next to his activities as front man of the band - became a bestselling author in Germany.

Element of Crime - An einem Abend im April (An April's Evening), 1994

And finishing 'The Washington Squares'

The Washington Squares (USA) - s/t album, 1987

This one, by request, is for TheCosmicJukebox :

Bethnal – Dangerous Times (UK, 1978)

This is a 2010 CDR rip of mine. I think the original source was someone’s upload of the LP version, not the German CDR version which is from 2011, according to Discogs. Somehow I did not save that original download (can’t retrace it, anyway). I hope my mp3 tagging is OK with you, at least you have a decent-to-good sounding copy of the album. ‘Baba O’Reilly’-- as it is called on the LP--, should actually have been spelled ‘Baba O’Riley’, as listeners familiar with The Who’s original version know.

https://www.imagenetz.de/p3Gbt

https://krakenfiles.com/view/bguk3HBir3/file.html

By the way, this the only Bethnal stuff I have. Hope you enjoy this.

Cheers,

@The Chairman, du hast absolut recht, was die beiden ersten Sven-Regener-Bücher angeht. Leider kam dann nicht mehr viel; "Wiener Straße" ist praktisch unlesbar, und "Glitterschnitter" - well, I wouldn' touch it with a ten foot pole, as they say. Best from Berlin, dukester.
