…and now for something completely different! 1647 - 2022

These arrogant fucking politicians don't give a fuck about us! They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! It is to cry for! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2020 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All the rest official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

Kate Miller-Heidke

Kate Melina Miller-Heidke (born 16 November 1981) is an Australian singer-songwriter and actress. Although classically trained, she has generally followed a career in alternative pop music. She signed to Sony Australia, Epic in the US and RCA in the UK, but since 2014 has been an independent artist. Four of her solo studio albums have peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, Curiouser (October 2008), Nightflight (Apri 2012), O Vertigo! (March 2014) and Child in Reverse (October 2020). Her most popular single, "The Last Day on Earth" (July 2009), reached No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart after being used in promos for TV soap, Neighbours, earlier in that year. At the ARIA Music Awards Miller-Heidke has been nominated 17 times.

She represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel with her song, "Zero Gravity" (January 2019). Miller-Heidke is the only person to have sung at Coachella, the New York Metropolitan Opera, and Eurovision. She has won five Helpmann Awards.

V/A THE SUN WILL ALWAYS SHINE - Sunshine Pop comp

Curt Boettcher produced “Cherish” for the Los Angeles band the Association in 1966 and although cringe inducing, it became a #1 hit. Bands from sunny L.A. flocked to studios to attempt their own soft pop masterpieces, and a handful managed not to suck. While listening to thousands of tunes to consider for this comp I became nauseous several times. Hopefully the finished product will not induce vomiting, and all I can add is Ba Ba, Ba Ba, Ba Ba.

1 - Sunshine Company - Happy
2 - Orpheus - Can't Find the Time
3 - Association - Everything That Touches You
4 - Collectors - Looking at a Baby
5 - Free Design - Kites Are Fun
6 - Keith - 98.6
7 - Spanky & Our Gang - Like To Get to Know You
8 - Sunshine Company - Back On the Street Again
9 - Sagittarius - My World Fell Down 7 inch
10 - Yellow Balloon - Yellow Balloon
11 - Love - Orange Skies
12 - Beach Boys - Surf's Up

Pure Hell was a punk-rock act from Philadelphia, USA, existing from 1974-1978 they released one single in '78, but recorded a whole album, not released untill 2005. High energy rock'n'roll sounds in the classic vein of Dolls/Stooges/Mc5. Buy it if you like it!

When I was young, a group of friends and me were very deep into - what we called - 'Underground'. Today you would say, 'Heavy Psychedelic and Early Progressive music'. The usual stuff: Argent, Moodies, Procol Harum, love, Floyd, Man and some more exotic stuff. I remember I brought in from one of my visits to the Netherlands 'Earth & Fire, Eaarrings, Cuby' and 'Steel Mill'. Their 'Green-eyed God' had charted in the Dutch Top Ten. Somebody else brought in a totally unknown Welsh band, which got into heavy rotation and cassette recorder taping between us. Only because of this track:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMY0WRtwBfs

Nothing of this band could be heard in the radio, in the charts, probably it didn't reach pirate radio.

O.K. here is:
Elastic Band (UK, Wales) - Expansions of Life, 1969
https://www.imagenetz.de/HgGgG

And continuing with some Mitch Easter related bands + artists:
The Washington Squares, a “neo-beatnik folk revival music group,” modeled after early 1960s ensembles like The Kingston Trio and Peter, Paul and Mary. The successful act toured and recorded for more than a decade, releasing two albums.
