…and now for something completely different! 2081 - 2023

These fucking politicians, warlords and religious... They don't know that they are as superfluous as telephone disinfectors and hairdressers! - RYP

We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS RELEASED IN 2021 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966

@Mike - The show Lily Tomlin was on was Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. My family watched it regularly--as I guess almost everyone did. It was pretty popular. It was also where Goldie Hawn got her start.

We even had Lily Tomlin's first album, which BigGray so kindly shared the other day. I quite enjoyed listening to it for the first time in fifty years. I was surprised how much I remembered. I enjoyed it so much that when no one else filled your request for her second album, I pieced it together from myfreemp3 so we could both listen to it. I never heard this one back in the day, but I remember her character Edith Ann from Laugh-In.

Anyway, belated thanks to BigGray.

Heaps of thanks to Alyce, bostig and flacman for 'The Country Side of Esther Phillips'. You are the best people in the universe.

I heard a track from this album on Sheila B's WFMU radio show a couple years ago and have been rummaging around looking for it since. Her show, 'Sophisticated Boom Boom', might appeal to TZoners. She's no longer doing the show but the archives are a treasure trove of "Female-fronted pop from the past, present, and future; from all over the globe"

@BigGray - Are you sure that Enjoy Dancing The Cha-Cha-Cha is by Betty Marion White (1922-2021)? Discogs ascribes it to Betty White (2) "50's and 60's era authority and teacher of ballroom and other popular styles of dance", along with two dozen other dance albums. I would guess that this is Elizabeth Williamson White (1917-?), who wrote several dance instruction books.

Good morning from soggy North Florida.

Eric Bling is an alt-blues artist who put out 3 albums in the early oughts (between 2002 - 2012)then got in a bad wreck and had to learn to play again. He's just started playing shows so I thought I'd share those 3 albums with you in hopes of a wider audience for him this time around.

@ Susan Dominus

The album was ascribed to the actress when I downloaded it. I took the poster at their word and didn't check. I did check it in Discogs but didn't check the artist, which I now see is, as you say, the dance authority.

It's not the first time I've been confused by two artists / bands with the same name and probably won't be the last.

Many apologies. I'll leave it up in case there are any cha-cha-cha lovers out there.

Betty White

The original post has been deleted. Here's this post again with the correct information, for those who see it in a week or two and don't read the later comments.

This Betty White was a dance instructor in New York. it is not Betty White, the actress.
There are some online links to sites selling her books, but not much biographical information.

It's nice to know that I wasn't the only one to get confused [and provide a third different name].
https://www.google.com/books/edition/Betty_White_Presents_Dance_Set/JAD3PAAACAAJ?hl=en

Any confusion is quite understandable. (The actress) Betty White dances the Cha-Cha-Cha on The Arthur Murrray Party.
