Lítið Eitt "Til Hvers" 1975

Þjóðlagasveitn Lító iettt worked for years in the 1970s and was among the leaders in the folk music sector during its existence. The band was founded as a trio in the early 1970s in Hafnarfjörður and consisted of Gunnar Gunnarsson, Hreiðar Sigurjónsson and Steinthór Einarsson, who all played guitar. They saw that such a thing was not beneficial and it turned out that Steinthór took up playing the double bass, moreover they all started singing, but the trio had been instrumental until then...
...A small thing soon attracted attention, as the band was able to perform at folk song festivals and other forms of entertainment, at first the band mostly played foreign folk songs with Icelandic lyrics, but later they introduced songs from Gunnar's song into the program. The rumor of the village spread far and wide and they came, among other things. appeared in TV shows and also went to Germany to act. Then the members released a small four-song album that Tónaúsgáfán released at the beginning of 1972. Although there was little room for this release, it was well received, resulting in excellent reviews in Morgunblaðin and Vikunni. It seemed that the band would close in the summer of 1972 when Hreiðar left it, but before that happened, guitarist Jón Árni Þórisson and singer Berglind Bjarnadóttir joined Lítið eittt, thus the trio became a quartet. Little One continued to appear, although the band was not as prominent in the playing as before, they did go to London and recorded a big twelve-song album in the Gooseberry studio under the direction of Jónas R. Jónsson. The album was released before Christmas 1973 under the label ÁÁ records and bore the band's title, it was very well received and sold more than five thousand copies before it sold out. Most of the songs were foreign, but Gunnar and Jón Árni also had material on the album, the lyrics came from various sources. The songs Time passes and changes, Heilræðavísur and Piparsveinninn enjoyed some popularity.
In fact, the band went out of business soon after the album's release, which was somewhat strange given its success. Nothing was heard from her until two years later, when a new album suddenly appeared with Litla ein, the band members had met for the sole purpose of recording an album, but it was never planned to follow it up in any way. The album was recorded in Hljóðrita under the direction of Jónas R. like the first one and was probably the first recorded in that famous studio, the songs came as before from various foreign sources, but Gunnar and Jón Árni were also involved, lyrics came from the national poets as well as Vals Óskarsson, who had also contributed to the poems of the previous big album. This album was called Til hír…? and was well received by critics, received good reviews in Dagblaðin and very good in Tímanum. However, there is no information about its sale anywhere.
The memory of this band has not been directly kept alive and the albums of Lítil Ein have not been released on CD and are therefore difficult to obtain. However, some of the songs have been released on compilation albums such as Allt ét besta (2002), Stelpurnar nór, another bhóði 1970-94 (1998) and Trúartónar (1999). - glatkistan Helgi J
