Nancy Sinatra "The Very Best Of" - 24 Great Songs 2002

Summer Wine & Some Velvet Morning are the standouts here. I agree that the collabs with Hazlewood are the best tracks on this comp.

In the early 1960s, Nancy Sinatra had been recording commonplace teen pop singles such as "Cuff Links and a Tie Clip" and the Teddy Bears' "To Know Him is to Love Him" for her father Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records with little success. In 1965, veteran producer Lee Hazlewood toughened her vocal manner, added a slab of rockabilly echo, jangly acoustic guitar, tambourine, and some punchy Billy Strange horn arrangements. Their first collaboration, "So Long Babe" was a modest chart entry, but "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'", with its catchy descending bass line, became an international #1 hit and recast Sinatra's public persona from bubblegum pop singer to go-go dancer. She sang soft and sweet on her 1966 hit ... and the chart-topping 1967 duet with her father, "Somethin' Stupid".
With the go-go craze played out and the face of pop music becoming more eclectic, Sinatra teamed up with her gravel-voiced producer Hazlewood ("Summer Wine" (1966), "Jackson", "Lady Bird" (both 1967) and "Some Velvet Morning" (1968)) to create a sort of country version Sonny & Cher. Around this time she also contributed the theme song for the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice." (1967)
Her movie career at this time included starring roles in the films "For Those Who Think Young" (1964), "Marriage on the Rocks" (1965), "The Last of the Secret Agents?", "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini", "The Wild Angels" (all 1966), and "Speedway" (1968), which not only gave Elvis Presley his most important co-star in years, but allowed her to strut her stuff on "Your Groovy Self".
By 1970, the hits stopped coming and Sinatra moved on to make two LPs for RCA; her final chart entry was a double-entendre country reunion with Hazlewood, "Did You Ever" in 1971. Sinatra wouldn't record again until a heavily hyped 1995 comeback album, One More Time. She continues to record and perform all over the world, releasing the self-titled and critically acclaimed Nancy Sinatra in 2004.
