"BLUES BEGINNINGS" - Early Raw Electric Blues Masters

Cool collection loaded with plenty of non-comped and gritty blues!A mixed bag of fairly obscure electric blues sides, Blues Beginnings raises itself a notch by including tracks even some collectors might not have seen or heard before, including Baby Boy Warren's loose and easy "Mattie Mae," the ragged and fascinating "A Fool No More" by Eddie Hope, and Marvin Phillips' odd "Salty Dog," which might be characterized as a bossa nova blues, if there is such a thing.by Steve Leggett, Allmusic

WOW! I am going to have to listen to this one a few more times to let it sink in completely. Track 8 features Chicago's little known Walter Spriggs (not "Springs") backed by The Chicago doo-wop group The Five Echoes. Spriggs was a staple in Chicago nightclubs in the 50's but did little recording. He often sat in with local doo-wop groups in Chicago's club scene. Track 13 features Hawaiian-born Ervin "Big Boy" Groves backed by the San Francisco doo-wop group The Robins. Awesome comp, Gyro1966 and RYP. Many Thanks!

Thanks for the good info, Chi-Town. I will make the proper adjustments in the iTunes for these songs. I feel that this album can be overlooked because it has a generic cover and fell under the radar. I hope that this will allow a few people to hear some of these hard to find tracks now.

Don't forget the Walter Spriggs track on R&B Humdingers 6 "Rack 'Em Back"
