"THE BEST OF RED TOP RECORDS" Vol. 2

Twenty-nine more tracks from Philadelphia's Red Top Records, a local label which helped cover the doo-wop and R&B scene from the late 50's to the early 60's. None of these selections made any noise nationally and were strictly local successes; outtakes, unreleased tracks, and Red Top productions leased to other companies flesh out the track total. The Blue Notes' (an early edition of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes) biggest single prior to Philadelphia International ("My Hero") is on board, as well as super rarities by Joe Tex and the outrageous Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
