ARNO NYMS FOLKY KALLAX SHELF – part 3
--------------------------------------------------
Here's more italian indiefolk/pop with Comaneci´- a duo named after Romanian athlete Nadia Comăneci who is considered one of the greatest gymnasts in history ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadia_Com%C4%83neci)...
Comaneci are an Italian indie/folk-rock band from Ravenna founded in 2005. Their music combines intimate acoustic folk, dream-pop, alternative rock and experimental/psychedelic elements. The band's central figures have been Francesca Amati (vocals, guitar, electric piano) and Glauco Salvo (guitar, banjo, electronics). Their early music was particularly sparse and intimate, while later records developed a fuller, darker and more experimental sound.
1 - Volcano (2007) is their debut CD, a delicate, minimalist indie/chamber-folk album built around Francesca Amati’s intimate vocals, acoustic and electric guitars and cello, creating dreamy, melancholic and atmospheric songs across 12 tracks.

2 - You A Lie (2009) is Comaneci’s second full-length album. Compared with the more delicate Volcano, it has a darker, more introspective chamber-folk sound, built around Francesca Amati’s vocals and Glauco Salvo’s guitar, with banjo, strings, piano and subtle electronic/noise textures adding depth.

3 - Uh! (2012) is their third full-length album . It contains 10 songs in around 32 minutes, moving the duo further from their early acoustic folk toward a more mature, intense and atmospheric indie-folk/alternative sound, while retaining their minimalist character.

Thank-You
very Sad news, Robert Wingfield (King Cake) the founder of his blog sadly has passed away from complications from a stroke. R.I.P. King Cake and thanks for all the great music.
In honor of Ryp’s multiple mambo postings (which if I’d had any sense at all I’d have grabbed) here’s a compilation I liberated from WFMU years ago that maybe I posted before…who knows who cares. It’s great!

Enjoy!
Last night’s Messer Chups/Reverend Horton Heat show was a megaton BLAST!!!!! We were literally in front of them both @ the stage barricade & with permission to photograph it was a mind-blowing experience. I got some tremendous photographs & will be forever grateful to Nate of Westside Bowl for giving me permission to photograph.
Messer Chups opened & completely soaked our ears with enough distorted reverb surf-sounds to wake the dead. I love this band!
The Reverend Horton Heat, long-time bassist Jimbo & drummer Jonathan Jeter took the stage & threw a rockabilly party for the crowd.
Their in-between song banter showed these 3 guys were having fun & so was the audience. They played old songs & some new one’s & gave us a few history lessons in rockabilly history along the way.
Age hasn’t diminished the Reverend one bit as he was ferocious playing that guitar, smiling & prancing around the Westside Bowl stage.
I probably sound like a gushing teenage girl but if you dig this kinda music I strongly urge you to check both of these bands out if given the chance.
You won’t be disappointed.
None of us were!!!
Agreed. A lot of great music appeared at the Crypt. Another great blog that vanished was Silky Denims. Does anyone have knowledge as to what happened?
Thank you Searnav.
Thanks for the Flying Nun stuff, I'll take a look and see what I've got to add here to the mix when you've finished sharing what you've got.
I found a much more complete set on two discs lurking in another folder [yeah , poor housekeeping ...] @flac which I'll post tomorrow .
This is my last resort. A hard drive crash took a lot of music but the one that is really serious for me is Gib Gilbeau. I’ve looked everywhere for his music with no success. Could anyone possibly help?
