…and now for something completely different! 3050 - 2026

These damned religious fanatics, politicians, warlords, and so on... Instead of sending the children of their peoples to THEIR OWN WARS, these idiots should settle their differences in large arenas with boxing matches or football games! For example, the "peace-making" Evangelical Messiah Agent Orange against the belligerent Putin, or the Pope in his ridiculous disguise against the bearded Ayatollahs with beards down to their navels... More examples welcome! - RYP

PLEASE READ OUR RULES:
We have a first entry each day that is a picture or a video, and only in that entry you can place your music links and requests (NO ALBUMS OR BOOKS RELEASED IN 2024 AND AFTER, AND A DAILY LIMIT OF 3 ALBUMS OR BOOKS AND NO REQUESTS FOR FLAC OR OTHER LOSSLESS, IF YOU WANT FLAC, BUY THE ALBUM)! Here you can say what you like, unless it's offensive, racist or discriminatory! Please keep your language polite and respectful. All other official posts will only allow comments related to the official posts and such. That way it will keep things much more organized and tidy. Enjoy! RYP and Gyro1966 and Gaius R.I.P.

Robert Ashley Day #8

I can almost hear the sigh of relief, as we reach the end of my mammoth Robert Ashley posts, though not saying I'm scraping the barrel, it's a real mixed bag.
Having not listened to many of the operas for quite a while, when asked the question which was my favourite, I had totally forgotten how much I loved 'Celestial Excursions'.. So many thanks to Pinverarity for his original request .
Firstly, Peter Greenaway's 1983 documentary 'Four American Composers : Robert Ashley' shown on Channel 4's, unbelievably 43 years ago. A 2008 Roulette TV performance and interview with “Blue” Gene Tyranny.
And we end with a real treat, a performance featuring the man himself live @ La MaMa in 2009.

"Miles from India: A Celebration of the Music of Miles Davis is a compilation album by various artists released in April 2008 through Times Square Records. Produced by Bob Belden, the album features songs associated with iconic trumpeter Miles Davis but performed in new arrangements by American jazz musicians and performers from India."

https://www.discogs.com/release/2096540-Various-Miles-From-India

I thought this set might be interesting but I had no idea how great it is. I like to think Mile's would dig it.

Miles for Otis - a homemade compilation
I put this together for my kid, Otis. Something for him to listen to at work. I figured he'd like the vibe and I was right.

1. Stella By Starlight - from Live at The Plugged Nickel - CD 5. I think there's three versions of this on that album and this is by far my fave.
2. My Man's Gone Now - from We Want Miles Live
3. He Loved Him Madly - from On The Corner
4. Fast Track - From We Want Miles Live. Otis is a guitarist and I knew he'd like Mike Stern's solos here.
5-8 are the four tracks from Bill Laswell's Panthalassa: The Music of Miles Davis 1969–1974
