Caravan
Caravan are an English rock band from the Canterbury area, founded by former Wilde Flowers members David Sinclair, Richard Sinclair, Pye Hastings, and Richard Coughlan in 1968. The band have never achieved the great commercial success that was widely predicted for them at the beginning of their career, but are nevertheless considered a key part of the Canterbury scene of progressive rock acts, blending psychedelic rock, jazz, and classical influences to create a distinctive sound.

In 1973, I started my first job, at a bank not far from my home. As was normal in smaller suburbs in those days, the electrical shop was the record retailer and, for some unknown reason as they weren't a popular band, in stock was Caravan's Waterloo Lily. I bought it, fell in love with the sound, and they are still one of my favourite bands.
I have always found the Canterbury Scene fascinating. As well as the Caravan posts, I have a series of solo albums by some of the ex band members. I've also prepared posts of Hatfield And The North and related bands (Delivery, Carol Grimes, Phil Miller, Gilgamesh and Short Wave), and Soft Machine.
I also have some Robert Wyatt, some Daevid Allen solo and Daevid Allen era Gong albums (and later Pierre Moerlin era Gong) as well as a few Kevin Ayers albums for the future.
RYP, I noticed that you posted some Soft Machine and Caravan albums. The Caravan, Hatfields and Soft Machine posts were prepared in May, honest.

CHARLES MiNGUS - Astral Weeks - 1964
"Astral Weeks is an unauthorized bootleg album of Charles Mingus' music, released by Moon Records in Italy on vinyl and CD in 1990. The material was recorded live in Copenhagen, on April 14, 1964. The release contains only two tracks: "Fables of Faubus" and "Meditations", although the full performance of his group's music that day also included other compositions that are absent from the Moon releases.
The bootleg was named after the Van Morrison album Astral Weeks."
